I have battled cancer for quite some time now and I can proudly proclaim that he has carried me through every step of the way. I am so grateful to him and his love and mercy. Cancer is not a fun thing, especially if you see your family suffer from it. But man do I hope that people will see God is in control no matter what. His plans are higher than ours and we don't always understand them, but we can trust him that he will guide us. He is our firm foundation and our strong rock. What has he done for you?

Very good question. First of all, I would like you to know I feel sorry for your condition. How you are handling it is an inspiration to many.

I have wondered about the absence of God myself when we are suffering. Sometimes I feel frustrated even angry with him. I have to admit that.

I have come to the conclusion that every trial and suffering has a message for us.

Sometimes God allows us to suffer in order to bring something good from it. The suffering and death of Jesus gave humanity a reason to hope and to believe in the resurrection. Christianity would not be what it is now were it not for its martyrs. The holocaust opened the eyes of the world to the evils of Nazism and racism. It also enabled the Jewish people to return to their homeland.

Buddhists have a nice way of explaining the mystery. It is basically the same as the Christian teaching on dying to ourselves: "to live is to suffer, to suffer is caused by desire, to transcend desire is the middle way, the middle way leads to nirvana." That sounds like spiritual euthanasia. Jesus Christ and the great saints of the Church took the teaching one step further. They said to end suffering one must not only learn how to control desires. One must also learn how to love unselfishly because love heals, nourishes and redeems us. What St. Paul said is true. Love conquers all things.
I hope this helps you.
Peace and every blessing!

So what did this God do for your Cancer????

Did he cure you of it??? Couldn't have or else you wouldn't have battled it for quite some time?

Didn't this God care that this illness was hurting you? Again he couldn't have or else he would've done something about it.

Did this God at least help with the incredible cost that this takes on a person? Probably not I know no God did anything when my mom died of a brain tumor.
No God did anything for the entire year and a half that she suffered with this before death came.

If there was a God and this God gave much of a crap about any of us why would he make something that believes in him and has gone to church their whole life suffer like that? What was it so her son could say screw this God I hate everything about him and I hope he dies of a horrible disease!
If that was this God's plan then congrats IT WORKED GREAT!

Good question! And where is god when people have limbs amputated? Have you ever seen a lost arm grow back? Me neither. God has trouble with limbs it seems. Too bad.

P.S. I'm glad you got over cancer. My grandfather didn't. You're a very special and lucky person. Take some of the credit - god didn't struggle through it - you did!

What has he done for me? Well aside from being held over my head as a child as a bogeyman to be feared nothing. There is no proof of his existence nor of any other deity. When trouble arises for me I work it out on my own because I have the ability to do so.

I'm glad you find a deity to be such a comfort for you but I just do not need that in my life.

FOOTPRINTS

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to him, and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it. "Lord, You said that once I decided to follow you, You'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me."
The Lord replied, "My son, My precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I Carried You."

My life's story.

Let's see: woke me up, got me out of the house in a beautiful day today, made sure that everything turned out wonderful even after we went through Katrina (I live in New Orleans), gave me activity of my limbs, gave me talents, and the list keeps going...
