Alex, my mom died 13 years ago and my dad 29 years ago. There are still times when I'll maybe look at their pictures, or think of things they used to say to me, or of things we shared, and I'll cry. Not long ago I came across some pictures and letters I hadn't known existed, and that made me cry. Sometimes something will happen during the course of a day and I'll think...I can't wait to tell mom {or dad} about this...and then, of course, I know I can't. Anyway, I don't guess there's any time limit on tears. These are people who loved you and shaped your life, who were the most important people in your life for, really, all of your life. You don't mention how long your mom {or both parents} have been gone, but here's the good news. You'll eventually find, as I have, that most often when you cry, you'll also be smiling because you're having a memory of a good time. There'll be lots of those, and they will let you know that your parent is still with you and still loves you.

I don't think it ever goes away (even for guys). My parents both died young and that was a long time ago and things like seeing Titanic or something else can bring tears to me too. I think it is natural and is just a way of making sure that you remember them always and so it just may be a good thing. The hurt lessens with time but enough compassionate pain will always remain to bring a tear to you in certain situations. Just think about it like I do and let it be a way to remember your mom. You just pause and take a minute and say hi and tell her how much you miss her and cry your tears freely. It is really good for you and makes you feel better too. I hope this helps you some. Thanks

My mom died 23 years ago this month and my dad died 3 years ago this May. I don't cry as much for my mom as I did, but I'm really missing my dad right now. There's not a day that goes by that I don't wish they were both still with me.
