Like even some Christians in disguise?

Yes.

Many of the believers here are obviously trying desperately to convince themselves, with all of that "evidence" they come up with.

No question about it. It's kind of difficult to be an outspoken atheist, ESPECIALLY in the United States. There are probably a lot of people out there who tell everyone that they're Christian, just because it sounds better, but deep down they really don't believe any of that stuff. If you admit to some people that you're not religious, it becomes an issue with some -- and I'm sure that there are plenty of people out there who just don't want to deal with that.

I get the feeling that the Christians are out numbered by atheists and nonbelievers of Christ. So heaven is going to have low occupancy. Maybe God has a way to fill up the rooms or mansions in heaven with souls he has earmarked to save. I hope you and I are included.

Absolutely. It's not something a lot of them feel comfortable talking about, because discrimination against atheists is very common and is still accepted in this country. People are starting to be more courageous and open, though.

The ones asking why atheists are so scared of god are usually the ones asking about atheism and evolution. It's like a kind of obsession with them - they're obviously searching for the truth.

I get the feeling at times that there are many people who aren't being real with themselves and with others. They will be exposed one day. Eventually everything that is kept in the dark will come to the light. I think some peope try to protect themselves from whatever it is that they are afraid of. Peace!!!!!!!!!!

The majority of people are most likely agnostic. They don't deny the existence of God, but they don't fully believe either. Most people won't admit to doubting though. They just lash out at other people to make up for their lack of faith. Its all, "Look at me, look at me! I'm a Christian, I really am! I'm going to Heaven and you're going to Hell!" They're probably trying to convince themselves more than anyone else.

Yes, I think there are some atheists out there who are afraid to admit it. I would like to say to them: have balls and just admit it.

There are many who go through the religious motions without really feeling it, and never question their own selves. They might be atheist/agnostic if they thought about it more.

I'd rather meet an atheist who's unafraid than one who must dress him- or herself up in Christian clothing. Be yourself! Having said that, you're probably closer to the truth than you know!
