I took some .5mg klonopin last week. The last time was wednesday of last week. I have an Rx but it is from about 8 months ago and was for 15 .5mg klonopins. The drug test is tommorrow, and is for pre employment. It is not a state or federal job, it is for an IT position. Am I good if I have the 8 month old Rx?
Please note that I did not take it for recreational use.

As a healthcare provider there has been times where I was called upon to defend a patient that I had ordered controlled substances for and they got 'caught' in a drug screen'. All I did was write a letter to verify that I had wrote the script for that person. I need not have to give more explanation than that and neither did they. Drug tests ususally screen in categories: opiates, benzodiazepines, ect. So this can lead to some confusion. One horrified man called me in a panic and told me that he had tested positive in a random drug screen for opiates. He never took drugs and swore he had never taken opiates. He asked me if anything I had last ordered for him could have done this. Actually it did. It had been in for bronchitis the week before and I gave him Robitussin with Codiene. It was the codiene that tested positive for opiates of course. Klonopin will test for benzo. If you have a script, its not a problem.

If it's is still in system, it will show as it is a benzo. The best thing to do is to call the person who interviewed you and tell them that you are Rxd klonopin for sleep or whatever and offer to bring by the Rx bottle if they would like. Don't take it to test site as there is nothing they can do with that info. Most COC's state not to write list of meds on them. By giving the interviewer the heads up, when they get your results, they won't be suprised and will view this as an act of an honest person.

I have taken prescribed Klonopin for years with no problem from employers. In fact, the majority only test for illicit drugs such as cocaine, marijuana and opiates.

Why would you worry if have a prescription? I take Oxycontin on an "as needed basis". Therefore, it may take me 8 to 9 months to use an entire prescription. You'll be alright.

If the prescription is not expired you are good. The meds should already be out of your system though. Check out www.ipassedmydrugtest.com
