My boys were easy- a noisy fire truck, or a noisy ambulance, or a noisy ANYTHING. For a girl? I don't know. She already has so many dolls it's scary. I want to get her something extra-special, but something she can play with- after all, keepsakes are really more for mom than baby, right?

No more dolls.
If I get her a noisy vehicle her brothers will take it from her. Unless it's pink.
She has been walking for over four months-no help needed there. She RUNS now.

I just went to my nieces first birthday and we really made out with the present we got her we got her a little tikes walker that converts to a little car she can sit on with all sorts of buttons, because at this age it doesn't matter the gender they like things that make noise and light up and since she is one something to help her to start to walk. We also got her a little people farm which she really likes, another good idea the toy shopping carts its a good toy and it helps with the walking. We also got her a bunch of chunky books which she liked at this point they'll play with anything today she was playing with her cousins crawling after there toy trucks they really don't care, just something safe. You also can go for the old time favorite gund stuff animals like the gund dogs that would be a pretty special gift. The only thing I would advise is whatever you choose get her something she can grow with something she can continue to use and play with for at least the next 6 months if not the next couple of years.

My girl just turned one this week. Her favorite toy recently is one of the walkers that she can push around, holding on to it so she doesn't fall. She also really likes the blocks she got. I forget what brand they are, but they have groups of rounded spikes top and bottom so they lock together. She likes the Disney Princess stuff she got as well.
My wife's favorite stuff was the nice clothes and the towel set with "Princess" on the towels.
BTW, what's wrong with a fire truck or ambulance? My daughter is always playing with her brother's cars and trains. A good friend of my wife is a female firefighter. I work on an ambulance crew and over half of the staff is female..

Can't wait to see what people think my little girl is one in April. I was thinking a charm bracelet and adding to it every year. But you are right it is probably more of a keepsake for me at the moment. Otherewise I was thinking outdoor play equipment (which you probably already have with other children). Maybe your daughter would like something noisy to??

Two of the toys my daughter got on her first birthday, that she still plays with now (she's 3 1/2), are the Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Musical Learning Chair, the Busy Ball Popper.

It's never too early to get a Fisher Price little people toy. At that age they will just suck on the people and maybe push the things that make noise, but it is a toy she will play with for years to come--my 5 and 7 year olds still sometimes play with our Little People stuff.

If she is walking or learning to walk I would get her one of the Playskool walker things. I can't remember the exact name other than I know its made by Playskool. There is even a commercial on TV but for the life lf me I can't remember the name!! It looks like so much fun for the baby. My son is 9 months and I already am planning on buying it for his 1st birthday or sooner. Just like you though I want keepsakes too :)

I know she has many dolls, but..
Every year for christmas, my uncle would come down to our house, and every year, he'd give me a different china doll. They're normally about 2 ft. and I loved them. She may be too young for this, so i suggest: ballerina/princess coatumes
idk! Maybe you can make her a "blanky" or something. Good luck!

We got my daughter a Magna-doodle when she was about1.5 years and she's still playing with it all the time. She'll be 5 next month.
Also anything involving Fisher-Price "Little People" is likely to be well-received.
