If you were meant to know how it works you would be in training by now.
It is all just plain nasty stuff kiddo. Know it exists and then steer clear. Anything that gets strength from the pain and agony of another being is something to be avoided at all costs.
If you showed any promise you would have already been recruited.

From what I understand, Satanism doesn't acknowledge Satan as being a real deity. They worship the idea of the Biblical Satan and what he stands for, but reject the existence of God and Satan themselves.
All the spells and rituals performed by Satanists are psychological, and for their own benefit. Its to break away from the things that organized religion has instilled in all of us since birth. For example, you might reject the idea of God enough to say, "I don't believe in God" ... but are you willing to go far enough to call the infernal names of Satan or participate in Black Mass? These things aren't expected to truly manipulate nature in anyway, but to alter the practitioner's way of thinking.
Personally, I've never read anything -- Biblical or otherwise -- that suggests that Satan has magical powers to give away.

Theistic Satanism is a form of Satanism in which adherents believe Satan is an actual deity and or force. Theistic Satanists are not atheists and believe in a conscious universe. Satan is perceived as male and female, a Muse and the Bestower of knowledge (Gnosis). Believers may place a great emphasis on the Serpent in the Biblical tale of Genesis, whom they perceive to be one of the many emanations or incarnations of Satan. According to such teachings, Satan blessed mankind with the "forbidden" fruit of knowledge of good and evil. From their perspective, knowing both good and evil is the birth of wisdom. It is for this reason that Theistic Satanists perceive Satan as a Force for good but may be used for evil. [1] Devil worshippers reject this idea, and see themselves as the enemies of "Good" and the servants of "Evil" in the name of Satan, who they see as the God of all that is Evil and in adherents with the Christian bible. Other Satanists refer to Devil worshippers as reverse Christians for that very reason.
Satanism is a religion based upon the philosophy of Church of Satan founder Anton LaVey, as outlined in The Satanic Bible and other works. "Satan" is appropriated as a positive symbol of this worldview, an archetype or the ultimate symbol of the self and egotism. LaVey explains that Satan is only a symbol in an interview with The Washington Post magazine: "Satan is just a symbol, nothing more.... Satan signifies our love of the worldly and our rejection of the pallid, ineffectual image of Christ on the cross."
