I applaud you on wanting to become leaner and healthier. But, try this for when the weather is in the teens. Exercise is a natural process that our bodies use to eliminate excess fat. People gain excess weight by either overeating or lack of sufficient exercise. So, on those days, stop and grab your coat and your keys and leave the house. Hurry to do this, but once outside take a leisurely stroll around your block. Then go back home and DON'T SIT DOWN, but do some house cleaning. Continue doing this 1 block jaunt for 1 week. Next week walk 2 blocks at the same leisure pace and go back home and clean some more. By now you should be more intuned to yourself and feeling like you can take on the world. Well, don't. We don't want you to get discouraged and stop walking. Your body will be fine tuning itself as you walk so you may not see immediate results. For your third week take in a block further and go home and do some more cleaning. Do the same for the fourth week as well. Now, here you are at the second month. You should be feeling more energetic. Are you? OK, then let's begin. This time when you go for your walk you will increase it by 2 blocks each week. If you feel pain or are short-winded then stop and go back to your last comfort zone of walking. This is only your body's way of saying that it is not ready for that step so fast. It is not telling you that you can't or never will do it, but just not then. Now go out and buy yourself some good raingear for the days when it is raining cats and dogs. Boots included and cover your nose and mouth as well. Don't let the inclement in the weather get in the way of you having good health. Now that you are walking further you need to go home and start organizing the cabinets and drawers. You are probably one of those people who still watch too much television. If you can't get up the nerve to throw it (idiot box) out, then watch it standing up as you go around and clean house. Oh, and another thing, while you are losing weight your clothes will start to bag and sag. Get rid of them! After all of your hard work you want to flaunt your success. Go out and buy new underwear and outerwear clothing. Don't forget that your feet will have lost weight too, so buy new shoes. Don't overwhelm yourself, though. Buy a piece at a time as you loose weight and get rid of your fat clothes. DO NOT STOP once you are at your ideal weight. Now you have to maintain it, for a lifetime. And always be aware of your surroundings. I can see you now. YOU'RE LOOKING GOOD!

Diets are hard to stick to, because usually the food gets old and you repeat it quickly, because many diets dont have a wide varity of food. You have exactly two months to lose just 10 pounds. Thats very possible. Heres some ideas.

First, in the Morning, have a medium sized bowl of cereal. Some things you could have are, Raisin Bran, Honey Bunches of Oats, Wheaties, Cherrios, something healthy like that. (putting cut fruit in it, makes it taste better, and its healthier)

For lunch, bring your own, never buy school lunches. ONE, they are bad, and two, they may seem somewhat healthy, but they arnt. Instead have a light lunch of say water, flavored water, or something like that. Also, bring fruit yogurt and a healthy granola bar. Apples and Banana's are also a good choice.

Dont eat Junk food in between meals. Thats the worst. Instead grab another yogurt, or have a few pieces of fruit to hold you until dinner.

When dinner does come, dont pile your plate. Start out small. Have 1 piece of meat. (SERVING SIZE OF STAKE IS ACTUALLY SUPPOSE TO BE YOUR PALM!). Also, if your mom, dad, or whoever makes vegetables or salad, have some of it. Now, you dont want to starve your self, so eat, but dont scarf down food. ^.^

When you have spare time, its always good to exercise. Run down your street or around the block. If the weather isnt good for that, find an open space in your house and do curl-ups and push ups, to work your abs and arms. Set goals of 30 of each type. Do different types of curl ups.

1 set keep your feet on the ground, do 30.
2 set lift your feet off the ground and do 30.

With push-ups, there are three different types you can do. Regular, Wide-Set (Spreading your legs and Hands out) and Pyramid (Putting your hands under your chin in the shape of a diamond).

You could also run up and down sets of stairs or jog in place.

So, In conclusion, at meal times, stick to healthy stuff, dont put too much on your plate. And when you have spare time, exercise.

ALSO! its good not to wiegh your self everyday... Wiegh your self say every week or every 2 weeks, and you will see a great difference. It may only be a pound or two, and you may think you've done all that hard work, (which you did), but it will all add up in the end.

~Hope that Helps~

Your mom is right, I don't agree with the atkins diet because overall it is to restrictive. South Beach Diet is a great way to loose weight fast but help you with overall good eating habits. Buy the book the small paperback book is about $7 at a barnes and noble and it lists how to follow the phases. The hardest phase is the 1st but if you stick to it the first two weeks you will see a weight loss of about 5-10 pounds. After that you will continue to loose weight at a slower pace.

I would just exercise as much as possible. For me, whenever I have a spare 10 minutes or so I go run a mile, but do whatever you can. I would advise eating healthy in general rather then going on a specific diet. I am a huge fan of granola bars such as Clif Brand Z Bars, Nature Valley Oats and Honey, and Special K Bars. I usually have those at lunch plus either a light yogurt or some fruit. I would also recommend 100 calorie packs as some of them taste really good. For dinner, try LeanCuisine or that good old standby, SlimFast. Best of luck!!

They said on the TV that the one without carbs is the best and than Atkins is in second place. You'll have to check that out. Look up diets by asking your browser the question "what is the top rated diet" and then click search. If that does not work go to ask.com and ask there. That always works for me.

Don't go on a diet! Go with making a healthy lifestyle change!
That means,
No more fast foods, junk foods, sodas, candies and sweets. Stick with healthy foods--don't forget about fruits and veggies! Never skip meals!
Drink a lot of water!!!!
And, get active!! Go walking, running, join in on sports--anything!!

Keep in mind that a healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week.
Good luck--you can do it!☺
