I am guessing they are admitting that the superanatural or unexaplainable is getting to them more than they like to admit. Any thoughts?

Glug glug.

Have you asked yourself why you're so bothered by our presence? Or is that question just a bit too sensitive for your weak faith to handle?

Interestingly, different people have different reasons to be here. Some "atheists" are highly spiritual people, believe it or don't. Some atheists only come here to make fun of the ridiculous things that some religious people say. Some atheists are working out how they themselves rationalize their own belief-system and they are practicing by interacting with religious people. Some atheists come here to fight the good fight for tolerance, insisting on the right of personal choice regarding spirituality even against the onslaught of unkindness perpetrated by the closed-minded religious.
There are MANY motivations for interacting. You'll have to ask people individually what theirs are. It is good to know what YOUR motivations are in the meantime, both why you want to interact and why you would like to discourage others from interacting.
Do you think you know what kind of person I am? I'm not an atheist. Try not to be judgmental. It's too easy to be wrong.

Well I can not answer for the Atheists. But I am an Agnostic. I am using this as one place to weigh the pro's and con's of different religions. Although I am having serious doubts that I will ever get any reall answers here because people tend to argue irrationally and have other questions and answers deleted because they don't like them. My theory is if you don't like it don't bother to try looking at it. If you don't like the Atheists, Agnostics, Pagans, Wiccans, Islams, or Jewish being here then I am sure that you can find a nice chat room in they Yahoo chat lists to get away from them. Also doesnt most of the gods and goddess out there teach acceptance of others? Try accepting the Atheists for who they are as opposed to what they believe. That is just another case of discrimmination.

This question has been asked at least 344 other times. You might want to check out some of the other answers, because there have been several good answers from Atheist about why they enjoy coming to R&S.

By the way, I am a Christian, but I can still discuss Paganism, Buddhism, Atheism, or Islam. Just because someone is an Atheist doesn't mean they don't have views on religion and spirituality.

I think you are right. I also say "There is no such thing as an athiest, for all know him from the greatest of them to the least." They reject what is before them, yet before they were even born God Knew them. They think they are safe in claiming a middle ground, but too ignorant and blinded to know that there is no middle ground. There is Light and Darkness; Heaven and Hell, the Christ, or the Antichrist.
I say we should declare a Hug an Athiest Day once a Month
just to let them know that God still loves them, and Jesus Christ still went to the cross for them regardless of what they refuse to believe. Their disbelief does not change the Facts.

Seriously this question has been asked over a billion times. Everybody has the right to be here. Everybody has something to say when it comes to the subject of religion. Everybody has questions and answers and want to gain and share insight with eachother. I come her because I find the subject of religion to be very interesting. Hell I have even learned about certain religions. Everynpdy can teach and learn from one another.

Better question: Why are there so many believers here that seem to have a bigger issue with convincing themselves of their theology than those they argue with??????

I'm not an atheist.

I just observe the insanity here from a distance and shake my head...

If everyone here was so "fulfilled" within their own belief system, there wouldn't even be an argument, now would there???

It's because Religion and Spiritual nonsense is worthy of all the contempt and derision that we care to heap upon it.

It's a major problem with the world today.

It may be that they are able to express their thoughts without being shouted down by zealots and need not concern themselves with ruminations that could result by the voicing of their views in a public and personal way outside this venue. Just my opinion of course, one can't speak for such a diverse group but it does seem plausible to my mind.

Because most of us enjoy to debate. I am among those who like to debate--sue me.

On top of that, I am highly interested in (not in pursuing, but in learning about) other religions. And I'm pretty spiritual, I like thinking there are unexplainable things that are entirely out of this world. I just don't believe there's a deity to cause it.

Furthermore, I like finding other people who believe the way I do. Just like Christians often like to talk to other Christians, atheists like to talk to other atheists.

And, to be honest, I like to poke a little at the fundies. And I like to answer the questions about evolution and the Big Bang. And I like to answer all of these sorts of questions...you know, the "Why are atheists on the R&S section?" or "Can atheists be considered moral?" or "Atheists: do you believe in the concept of a soul?"

I have plenty of reasons. Do you really need more than that?

Oh, and believe it or not, I have offered advice to Christians before that ties in with their Christian beliefs (as much as I could tell anyway). Like advising them to discuss their issues with their preist or friends from their church. I don't come here to convert people--I just try to promote tolerance and understanding. I want people to understand me and my point of view just as much as I like learning and understanding another person's point of view.

I think you are reaching a bit there. Since this question is asked at least ten times a day why don't you check out the resolved questions category. I'm amazed that people still feel the need to ask this even though I know when you ask a question in this forum it tells you how many times it has been asked previously.
