Not all are, but I have run into a few obnoxious Brits. The nasty ones are always annoyed that where they are visiting is different than England in general or the town where they are from specifically. Well of COURSE it's different. That's the point of travel, isn't it? Have never understood that attitude. Arrogance is not attractive in any nationality. Most British folks are nice enough. It's like the myth/stereotype of the ugly American tourist though - they don't seem to realise that they re awful. I have seen awful and nice tourists of all nationalities. Maybe you've just had more than your share of the baddies.
Travel is a privilege, and should be undertaken with an open mind.
(then again, Eastglam sounds really open minded, doesn't he? Sort of makes your case for you)

The British are about the least arrogant nationality there is. Britain is full of immigrants who benefit form our system and they want to learn our language but they hate it when you learn theirs. So where are you from? and look up the meaning of the word arrogant because your English isn't good. The British do not feel better than any nationality they are made to feel inferior. I find all these Eastern Europeans arrogant because they think they can learn English well enough to work in our country, now how arrogant is that?

I have to diagree with the comment in general.
The brits are a confident race who know how to enjoy a holiday.
I would say the youth ( 18-30) are loud and roudy but this is generally because alcohol plays a major part in socialising in the UK.
I find that the over 30's are no more arrogant than any other people.
Take the alcohol away and we're all the same

Ram? Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan, or Arab which are you? Oh of course you may be American and that says it all.
Travelling extensively and living in another country from the UK, I can tell you that the Brits are the least arrogant nation there is. They are usually pleasant, courteous, and obliging. They may not speak the local language (but can you expect them too) Neither to the Yanks, Canadians or Ausies I know.
And talking of Yanks they are often loud mouthed, small brained and overly assertive. And that comes across as being agressive, rude and yest arrogant.

Why are you so arrogant to assume that?
Yes, there are 'unsavoury' British citizens and unfortunately WE are lumbered with them for the 50 weeks a year while you may have to put up with them for the other two! You can't generalise us all like that though.
I want to see Australia one day, and I hope the Ozzies aren't going to be arrogant to me!

i do no longer think of that maximum British each and every person is conceited even in spite of the shown fact that Londoners are conceited and impolite however the the remainder of the rustic is get known, and because maximum people who come right here circulate to London i'm able to understand why British people could be very as conceited. even in spite of the shown fact that it is like if i visited usa and in basic terms went to manhattan and then judged ALL American people on New Yorkers.

The doors to GREAT Britain are open for just about anyone from any country to come and live here. We are just a small island in the sea but we accommodate anyone. And you have the arrogance to call us arrogant! Open your eyes!

I think arrogant is the wrong word. I do think Brits can be ignorant and insensitive when we go abroad though. Very few bother to learn the basics of the language, and do not recognise the culture. A prime example of this is last year in Portugal my mother in law (who is very, vert brummy) tried to order a cup of tea in a cafe, when the waiter didnt understand, she proceeded to repeat "CUP OF TEA" loudly in a thick Birmingham accent! Even I didint understand her! lol
