i got a huge blister on my hand from shoveling snow all day. i popped it with a knife and a bunch of clear liquid came out. what is it? does popping it solved the problem?

wear gloves next time you shovel with your sensitive, non-calloused hands. it wasn't such a good idea to "pop" the blister. you now have to worry about infection. keep it covered when you go out. wash frequently with lots of soap and water. see a doctor if you notice redness or drainage that isn't clear.

The clear liquid is lymph. Your body is trying to heal itself. Popping can solve the problem, but put some topical antibiotic on it so it doesn't get infected .

a blister is cause by your skin rubbing up against somthing
underneath your skin gets irritated
but the "blister" is not an open wound
the wound is under your skin
the skin is loose and fluid goes into the blister
by poping it you now have an open wound and your prone to infection
