I have tried headphones by some very famous companies like Logitec, but in each case I ended up getting heavily muffled voice where high pitched sounds almost diminsh and dumbeats are more like thuds. Only Labtec headphones don't seem to do this, however, they don't go very loud. Any suggestions about headphones?

My suggestion to you is to get a good pair of headphones like these:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/customer-reviews/B000065BPB/sr=8-1/qid=1174420222/ref=cm_cr_dp_pt/102-1478627-9758549?ie=UTF8&n=172282&s=electronics&qid=1174420222&sr=8-1
The Sennheiser HD-280 Pro's =)

I have these headphones and they are AMAZING. The dynamic range on them goes from the lowest of lows to the highest of highs accurately and evenly reproducing the sound without distortion and at high volume. I've heard parts of music I've never heard before putting these headphones on. Just read through the reviews at Amazon at that link I gave you. 200+ 5 star ratings.
