Clear fluids are best. Bananas, rice, applesauce and toast are best, once the vomiting has stopped. Pediasure is a good clear supplement. Juice especially fruit can upset the digestive track enough to keep the runs coming.
I will give my kids, children's gravol for the stomach and Imodium for the runs if they go on for more than a day.

Go get the kid some Pedialyte. It will help replenish his dehydrated system. Also, I would skip the food for awhile, at least until he can keep down the Pedialyte. If he's upset as well as sick, maybe try giving him a sugar-free popsicle, that will cheer him up, and give him some much needed fluids.

Once he can keep down the liquids, start him on dry toast (no butter or jelly), and then work your way up to beef or chicken broth.

If all of the above don't work they have childre immodium, it works good. But as long as they are keeping fluids down it might be best to get it all out. Alot of times my son does terrible with apple juice even though it is a juice. apple juise can have an laxitive effect. If there is no more tears coming out of there eyes when they cry my doctor says they ar dehydrated and it is time to be seen.

skip the food -it's not necessary. instead make sure the kid has lots to drink -clear beverages at room temp are best tolerated. include popsicles. treat the diarrhea with kids Immodium.
after 24 hrs without any symptoms, you can then add solid food back into the diet. but, go easy and stick to bland foods including the yogurt with live cultures.

Do not feed him anything solid if he is vomiting. Feed him liquids only till the vomiting stops. Give him Immodium aka loperimide for the loose stools or kaopectate. Be sure he is drinking well and if you have any thoughts that he might be getting dehydrated from the vomiting and loose stools then take him to urgent care.

I was told by my dr. to drink Gatoraide for the electrolytes, and once then to follow the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, applesauce, toast). No fats, even butter!

Don't drink juice. You're better with clear liquids --water or sprite. Not juice cause it can aggravate diarrhea.
