Without a history of what she did, where she went, and who she was with for a period prior to developing the fever, it is difficult to answer your question. Certainly, an ongoing fever suggests that there is definitely something wrong.

Does she have pain in any part of her body? Are there any other symptoms such as vomiting? Did she hurt herself somewhere along the line? Even a "silly" scratch somewhere could have set the ball rolling. Could she possibly have been bitten by a tick or something else?

I would strongly recommend another visit to your ER. You cannot successfuly bring the fever down, if you are unable to find the cause.

Look after yourself and be safe

You need to get her to the doctor! not the ER but her pediatician. A fever that high is dangerous. Why did then give her amoxicillin? The only reason that they should have given her an antibiotic is if she has a bacterial infection. Until you can get her to the doctor you can use acetaminophen (tylenol) and IB Profen (Motrin) I would not give her Aleve or Asprin. Motrin and tylenol can be taken at the same time. Follow the directions (4-6 hours) and give her the amount that is specified on the back. But those two drugs can be used together at the same time.....nothing else though......(she can have other things like her amoxicillin)

Take her back to the ER tonight- you should not run that high of fever for more than 3 days. You can become severely dehydrated - Something is definitely wrong. Amoxicillin is good, but may not be strong enough for what is going on - you might want to ask for some Zythromax - that should give you immediately relief for any type of bacterial infection. They may also want to retest her for strep as well as tonsillitis - I hope she feels better soon!!!!!!!!

Also - they will probably admit her tonight if you take her to the er - they will give her an IV that will help re-hydrate her and also help cool her off from the inside out.

The first thing I would do is get a new thermometer or take your own temp to be sure your thermometer is working accurately. Second you need to take her back to the doc and have them run more tests to find out what is going on. Her fever is high enough that it warrents being checked out thoroughly. Normally though you don't treat a fever as it is your bodies way of fighting what ever you have wrong with you. Also DO NOT use cold showers as this can actually raise the temp not lower it. Give her plenty of liquids to drink but since she is still stick take her back to the doc and ask for more tests. I would ask for a CBC and an electrolyte panel to be sure she isn't dehydrated as this could be part of the cause. Head to urgent care and get this checked out.

Sounds like she may have somthing viral.... like influenza, or a secondary infection that is resistant to Amoxicillin. In the world of antibiotics Amox is a fairly mild one. At 14 she shoud be able to have Tylenol or Advil for fever, Tylenol every 4-6 hours and Advil every 6-8 hours. I would take her back to the Dr if she dosn't seem to be improving soon and have her rechecked to make sure she dosn't have any underlying infections. I hope she feels better, and remember that going to or calling a Dr is the best place for medical advice

She probably has the flu. If the fever continues for 5 days, definetly take her to the doctor.
You are not doing anything wrong. She has a virus and there is not much you can do.
Just make sure she is drinking a lot of water/gaterade.
A high fever for 4 - 5 days is not going to hurt her. Just keep a close eye and take her to the doctors tomorrow. I bet she'll be better by Tuesday.

If you cannot bring the fever down; then agree with it.
Give your daughter some hot tea & put her in as warm a tub as she can safely stand.
Have Mom stay there with her, in the bathroom. This will force her fever to break by making it spike.
After the bath, again, some hot tea; wrap her up in some flannel pajamas & crank up the heat. She'll sweat it out. If you have a humidifier, put it in her room to help her sweat & add warmth to the room.

103 or 104....umm are you sure that it's not 100.3. if her temp is that high you need to get her to the ER right away. I'd take her to a different hospital then what you did before because it sounds like shes really sick. Hope she gets better soon, she'll be in my prayers. God Bless!
