Hi, I am interested in taking on a quick project while
I have 2 weeks vacation time.I have grown tired of my
old countertop which has to go but at the expense of
doing it myself. For the most part it is so outdated and
there are sections that has puffed up and you can press
down on it.I believe it was layed over wood planks because
I look at the overlapped edge underneath and count the planks.
I am thinking I won't have to replace the whole countertop
since it is not plywood or particle. It should be removable
as I am guessing and pried up with some tools. It is an Lshaped
countertop dimensions are side of the sink is 6ft6 in long,
and the countertop area is about 2 ft in width and about 5 ft long combined (Lshaped).Would it be possible to do this
with one or 2 sheets of laminate? what tools do I need and how long of a project is it? what material is needed and cost?
If it does not adhere all that well any improvement would satisfy
me.. thanks all

It is not a hard job for a person that has done it before. If you can get to old laminate up in one piece you can use it as a template to cut the new stuff. You need a laminate cutter, a router, straight edge, glue, sander, paint roller to spread the glue. I would get some help from a friend that has done it before. It can be tricky to get the laminate straight and if you don't that glue is unforgiving. It will stick on contact and you can't move it. I would think that a four by eight sheet would do the job. as I recall it is about $50. a sheet.

i've seen laminate countertops at lowes and hoem depot. the whole thing, for prob about 9 ft or so, was only about $40 from what i remember. it might be worth it for you to go that route instead of trying to repair your old tops. then you can have more time to relax too!
