His anal glands need to be expressed. some groomer do it but I would give your vet a call and have them do it.
Expressing the anal glands is a very stinky job and your right it does smell awful!

if your groomer neglected to do this..i would not take the dog back..go to your vet and have the dog examined ...if the anal gland do need to be expressed, the vet will usually do it for free if you are an established client..if not maybe $12.00 at the very most...also ask your vet to show you how to do it...it is gross but get it over with and the dog and yourself will be much happier....you need to know how to do this properly b/c if you do not know what you are doing..you can rupture the anal gland and this is not good, your dog may have problems and need to have the anal glands removed...you can help by using ALCOHOL-FREE baby wipes when your dogs does poop and when your dog does "leak" anal gland secretions. ..I am guessing that the dog may scoot, and may be a little overweight..many dogs that are overweight have this problem b/c the anal glands do not express themselves as they should normally...Hope This Helps! God Bless!

His anal glands are impacted. There is a muscle between the outer anus and the inner anus in which feces become trapped and bacteria maifest. Most dogs will scoot on the ground and remove it themselves however, many dogs can not. To extract it put on some rubber gloves and place you thumb and index fingers on the ten and two (like driving a car) and push in and squeeze. You should see some jelly-like material come out and possibly some feces. It's very gross I know but it's for his health.

he needs his anal glands expressed. some groomers do it for an extra cost but most of them won't do them. the best thing to do is to take him to the vet and have them do it. don't try to do it yourself because you may hurt him. if the glands are not expressed then he can get an infection and it will smell worse then it does now. i have 4 golden retrievers and i take mine to the vet every other year to have theirs expressed and it keeps them well. good luck

probably had his anal expressed either by the groomer or they expressed on thier own,

call your groomer and explain the situation, they should have no problem rewashing him for you, if it started as soon as he left there

but i would just used a baby wipe and make sure it isnt burned or cut, just stinky, in that case just wipe it up real good
