It's not about age - my bf is turning 47 in a couple of months, and sex with him is even better (and more frequent!) than 20 years ago with him. How do I know? -I was with him 20 years ago.
I think it just gets better with age, and it isn't about "too old".
When your heart gives out, or you can't breathe, it's time to stop. Until then, with the right partner, keep at it as long as possible!!!
