I was in the very same situation just recently, here's what I did...
I used a gargle of 1 part peroxide and 1 part water, (my mother's remedy), it worked for me. And I used Anbesol for the pain. Just make sure you don't swallow the peroxide rinse and rinse your mouth out with water afterward. It's not a full cure, like getting the tooth pulled, but it will help get rid of the infection until you can get it pulled.
hope it helps

Antibiotics are not available over the counter. You need to see a doc or a dentist and get this looked at ASAP. You seem to have a computer and internet access so if you can afford these things you can afford to get your tooth looked at now before the infection spreads to your blood stream and lands you in the hospital.

I agree with the salt water gargle/swish. I have used it for years, works...
I've seen my local pharmacy offer the basic antibiotic.. amoxicillin? for 5 bucks a bottle. I don't know if this is widespread, you should call the pharmacy. Doctors will often give out samples to people with no insurance. An infection out of control can actually,. really kill you. Don't mess around over a matter of 50 bucks.

Call your Dentist and see if he will phone in a prescription for the antibiotics. You can't get them over the counter. Once the infection goes down, then get it over with and have them pulled.

No you can't get over the counter antibiotics unless you go to a farm supply store. I guess you probably shouldn't do that but the drugs are much the same. You should call you;r dentist. He will call into your pharmacy a script for it most likely if hes seen you lately.

Sorry, but antibiotics aren't available OTC,they are by MD prescription only. Why don't you try phoning the dentist and tell him whats going on,he can order them by phone to your pharmacy. That will save you some money,or go to the ER they can give you some prescriptions for pain and infection. Take care. SW FNP

gargle with one teaspoon of salt in a cup of lukewarm water five times a day. Take a little bit in your mouth, gargle, spit out and repeat until the glass is empty. Will help with infection and pain. Also works on sore throats. Very effective.

You need a prescription to get rid of the infection and pain medication.

try taking an OTC pain reliever that is geared more towards inflamtion....Motrin (IB profen), Aleve (naproxen) garggle with warm salt water. Call around to some dental facilities and ask if they have any type of payment plans. Most dental offices have some type of financing and they will work with you!
