Not really. Some departments might have a web site that tells viewers a lot about that department, including what gun it carries.
The overwhelming choice for most departments is a .40 cal. weapon. Usually the Glock. Used to be Smith & Wesson. Their new M&P guns may get them some of the market share back.
Some departments will issue a weapon in order to standardize training.
Some departments will allow the officer to purchase their own sidearm but usually mandate the caliber, type, and sometimes, manufacturer.
Others will allow the officer's an individual choice of caliber, type, and gun maker.

Most likely not, each department makes thier own choices, some departments even give officers choices, a few make the officers buy thier own.
And which gun is not really an inportant issue that I believe is charted.

Almost all departments now have a basic standard for duty weapons and no longer mandate a specific brand or caliber.
