Is obeying the ten commandments the key to ascension?

I believe God still forgives us no matter how many times we break the commandments but it holds us back.

Jesus is the way, not obeying the Mosaic Law. Paul talks much about this in Romans.
Plus there are about 600 commandments, the 10 are just the first ones God told the Israelites before they got scared of His voice and told Moses to go up and talk to God personally.

The key to ascension, as you put it, is simply to believe in God, accept Christ into your heart as your savior, confess your sins to Him and ask forgiveness. Pray to Him and Worship Him, read and study the bible, live a sinless life. God loves everyone, but hates sin.

Our actions do not get us into heaven or keep us out of it. Getting to heaven is through Christ. Through Him is the only way. We will have to answer before God for all that we do while here on earth...

What must you do? Simply believe that Christ has taken away your sins, and then receive Him into your heart and life. The Bible's promise is for you: "To all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God" (John 1:12). Become God's child today by asking Christ to come into your life.

Ascention? I take it you mean go to Heaven. You can only go to Heaven when your spirit is Born Again.

God is made of 3 persons. The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. All 3 added together is God, BUT each one by THEMSELVES is God.

Every HUMAN is a SPIRIT, we have a SOUL and we live in a physical BODY. You are a spirit, you have a soul and your spirit and soul are inside your physical body. (It is your spirit and soul that goes to heaven, not your physical body).

It is impossible to please God without faith. 2000 years ago God sent His only Son (LOOK TO THE FIRST PARAGRAPH TO REALISE WHO THE SON ACTUALLY IS) to die for the sins of the whole world. We ALL inherited sin from Adam when SATAN deceived Adam to sin in the Garden of Eden. AND on top of that we ALL sin everyday. (There would be no such thing as sin in the world if Satan did not exist).

In the eyes of God - we are FILTHY SINNERS because ON TOP of inheriting sin from ADAM, Satan CONTINUOUSLY DECEIVES the world to sin. So EVERYBODY in this world is FULL OF SIN. God HATES SIN.

NO FILTHY SINNER can get into heaven. This is why God kicked Lucifer (who is Satan) out of heaven - He was a sinner. But God made a way for us to clean ALL our sins away and get into Heaven.

2000 years ago, God sent His ONLY SON JESUS CHRIST to die, SPECIFICALLY for YOU in order to "purchase" your FILTHY sins so that ALL your sins will be taken away. Jesus was nailed to a cross, He was beaten beyond recognition, He was spat upon, He was whipped mercilessly, nails were driven into the hands of Jesus, nails were driven into the top of His feet, and His Blood was shed for you. ONLY THE PRECIOUS BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST CAN WASH YOU CLEAN OF YOUR SINS. Three days later, God RAISED Jesus Christ from the dead and Jesus went to heaven taking with Him all your FILTHY sins.
It says in the Word of God:

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.

("Perish" in the above scripture means GO TO HELL).

You can only go to Heaven to be with the Father through the PRAYER OF FAITH
THE ONE AND ONLY WAY to go to HEAVEN is to:
1. Say with you mouth and believe in your heart (your spirit) that Jesus Christ is your Lord and personal Saviour and that God raised Him from the dead taking away your sins.
2. Ask God to clean away your filth and take away ALL your sins.
Cry out to Jesus now and He will SAVE YOU.

When you do this by FAITH The Holy Spirit (LOOK TO THE FIRST PARAGRAPH TO REALISE WHO THE HOLY SPIRIT ACTUALLY IS) will LIVE inside your spirit and God will recognise you as one of His Children, and when you die you will go to Heaven.
