The academic entry requirements for a Nursing Diploma are likely to include five GCSEs (A-C)/S grades (1-3) preferably in English, maths and/or a science-based subject. The academic entry requirements for a Nursing Degree will usually include the same GCSE/S grades as the diploma plus two or three A levels/H grades, possibly including a biological science.
If you have no academic qualifications you may have to set your sites a little lower. The alternative, if you are determined is to go back to college and try and get them. I wish you luck.

to become a registered nurse you need at least diploma in higher education (nursing).
This course is offered at several colleges and universities in the UK. There is also an access to nursing course that you may need to complete before you will be considered for a place if you don't have the qualifications for the nursing course.
try contacting local colleges for info.
working as a nursing assistant in the meantime will give you great experience.
good luck

Well you should most likely check with the UK Psychiatric Nursing Schools requirements.

I am not 100% sure about this but I've seen job ads just asking for "experience or knwoledge" only to work with people with mental health problems in the jobcentre.
However, I think if you have compassion & feel you can do it & is sth for you, then go to different mental health institutions or hospitals & ask if you can start at the bottom & work your way up.
belive me some of the nurses I've met are so horrible you wonder why they chose this job!! they're cruel & uncaring, & have no idea how to treat vulnerable people, they treat them like machines with no feelings.
So i'm sure you'll do well; as you are genuinely interested & care.

Become an axillary nurse (your local hospital will have a job office) or go to uni to study nursing.
You can do nursing at the open university even!!

check with your local collages, find one that does an access to health course... it's a 2 year course (no exams whatsoever!! all coursework based) it will set you up to go straight onto a nursing degree.
best of luck
