What do babysitters make per hours these days? (We're in Texas if that makes any difference). My daughter charges $10.00 per hour which I thought was very high. However, she can't handle all the calls she gets, which makes me wonder if she isn't charging enough?

She is 16, has lots of experience and has clients that have told me they'd pay $20.00 just to keep her... I gotta give her credit, her customers are happy and she seems to be too.

$10 is pretty standard. If she is receiving the calls because she does a good job, maybe it is time to charge a little more, no harm in asking. I would probably raise the amount a few dollars and see how it goes. If she continues to get the calls - maybe raise it again. If she stops getting calls, all together, maybe lower it. Also, if the call volume decreases, but she still has steady work - i would not lower the amount back to $10.00

I am in a very upscale area on the Jersey Coast. I pay 10 an hour for 2 kids. My daughter is 14 and she asks for a starting charge of 5 dollars an hour then plus 1 dollar a kid per hour. Ex: 3 kids is 8 dollars.

I would stay at 10 because your daughter is still in school probably so the hours are night time when its dinner, bath, and bed time. These are difficult hours of the day to take care of kids. My babysitter gets about 15 to be honest I have 3 kids and only leave for about two hours anyway.

$10 sounds reasonable. If its more than 1 kid then should be $15 per hour. Babysitters are pretty hard to find these days especially that kids are staying out later and rather hang out with friends than babysit, which is normal.

Ten dollars an hour has become strangely standard in many areas. (I am also in a fairly upscale portion of Texas.)
At that rate she should be reasonably good...responsible...and speak english. She can charge more if she's really overrun with calls...you might be in an area with a shortage, or she might just really be a charmer. Local markets vary widely.

I think $10.00 an hour is not an awful amount to charge. I think good for her if she can keep up on all the calls! :)

My babysitter is 15, she gets $5.00 an hour, which is more than enough. It also depends how many children. If she babysits for my child and my friends, we pay $5.00/hour per child.

should be dependent upon the number of children kept and the amount of time ...... also the age of the babysitter should be taken into consideration
