How does your employer feel? Did you have to strike a deal with them to allow it to happen? Did you have to request in writing/take out insurance? How do your co-workers feel? How practical is it in truth?
Like to hear your (short) stories, especially office-based scenarios. Thanks in advance, Mark

I have a dog at home and a dog at work! At least she may as well be mine I love her as much. I do everything for her as well as looking after her master! I'm a care-worker and We did strike a deal, because in a way my dog is working! She's my guard at night She comes in and his dog (Pomeranian and Blind) loves it! Mine is very gentle and protective towards her! I don't need her protection and My co-worker who could not handle my dog only works daytime hours so in my case it's practical only at night! Although it's his home it's also a workplace for his carers!
I've met lots of dogs as a careworker and unfortunately it's often a hinderance or on some occasions dangerous to have to try and work there, so I don't think taking a dog to a busy work place should be encouraged! But I've worked for bosses who took the dog and many blind people need a dog to even work! If well-behaved they've generally been an asset!

I use to take all eight of mine, now I just take four of them to work with me at a given time. How does the employer feel..she love it...Did I have to strike up a deal humm nope..Insurance..nope...How does my co-worker feel..He loves it. Why you ask ...I own my own business so I can do basically want I want. Everyone love my dogs, I have people stop by just to play with them..I am talking about big burly truck drivers..I can't believe when they get on their knees to play with my dogs. I also notice the mannerism with people when they walk in and see my dogs. It puts them at ease right away. It is funny watching people change when they see a dog.

I don't take my dog to work every day only when my parents go on holiday(they look after him while I'm at work). My dog is diabetic so can't be left on his own all day. The situation is if I can't take the dog to work then I don't go to work. I work for a small dance wear manufacturing company. My co-workers don't have a choice.
My bosses don't like it but they have no choice as I'm the only full time machinist and they have order dead lines.
My dog is nearly 15 so he sleeps all day anyway so he's no trouble.

i work in a grooming salon, and take a dog to work almost every day, its not really a problem, but sometimes its less than ideal for the dog

i like having them with me, and most of them just lay at the foot of my table, for a better part of the day, i take them out for a walk twice and they have a chewie to nibble on and a bowl of water.

i tether them so they can go but three feet in any direction, and it doesnt seem to bother anyone, my boss brings her dog to work so its not an issue, but my rottweiler can be nippy when she is tethered so i have to kennel her if i bring her, and i only bring her when she is really stinky

however, and i guess this is a double standard,
i have a co-worker who brings her do to work everyday and it annoys me to no end, she keeps it in a kennel by her table and the fickin thing barks non stop when she walks away , she is constantly talking to it, and parades it out for a walk like once an hour, it really aggrivates me that my dogs are invisable and hers is so poo-pooed

my bf takes ours to his job. he works in the theatre industry, so the back half of their shop is a warehouse where his desk just happens to be. the owners have 2 dogs that come occasionally, and one of the other employees has 2 pitts that have all been in on multiple ocasions. so when we got out pup, she started going with him to work. its now been 6 months and i think there has been maybe 5 occasions when she didnt go. i'm sure they must be getting sick of her by now, but she's like the shop dog and doesnt mind it too much. i feel bad for the guys there tho, cause if my bf has to go out suddenly, he has to leave our puppy there, and they are forced to look after her, and usually they just tie her to a desk or something so she cant get in trouble.

My dog's retired from work now. For years she would be happy to hang around with us at work. All she needed was a lift up and down the ladder. She probably knows more about bricklaying than any other dog.

Ain't that the truth LEX!!! I know I'd be more calmer and a lot less stressed if I could bring one of my dogs to work. But I know it will never happen no matter what. Good luck!

My doctor, long since departed this life, use to have a bulldog under the receptionist's table. It was a very docile dog and the kids who came in were always playing with it.
