I would have to say that all the G8 countries ahead of ours in math, science, and reading have more atheists than we do. What does religion have to do with poor performance in school? I can't see those top nations teaching Christianity. I couldn't picture all those atheists telling school children that everything revolves around god. I keep hearing that the kids are required to read Carl Marx before graduation in a large number of schools in European countries. Where did this myth come from that taking away religion is the problem? Are these European nations really teaching bible studies, or did you Christians just make that up that prayer and bible reading in schools helps kids perform better in reading writing, math, and science?

There is no correlation between religionism and academic performance. There are a group of religionists in this country who are terrified that traditional Christianity will soon cease to exist, and are attempting to use the state to keep it alive. That's why they want to defund the public schools to force parents to send their kids to sectarian private schools.

The truth is, Christianity won't die. The more educated we become about science and such, the more it will evolve into a serious, intellectual Western religion. Sort of like what happened in the East with Buddhism. Naturally, this terrifies a lot of fundamentalists, hence the backlash.

When you educate without religion, you create clever
devils. When religion was a part of the public school
system, kids were bad when they chewed gum and
threw paper wads. Look at the schools now that
religion has been thrown out......bad kids bring guns
to school and sometimes kill others with them, they
have sex with others (including teachers), they cuss,
they use brain-altering drugs, there are many bullies
scaring more timid kids, etc. I think schools should
get back to teaching reading, writing, and arithmetic
plus religion, money matters, computers, manners,
and good things like that. Public schools are a failure.
The Christian School children are a way ahead of
those in public schools. So are the home-taught
children. That should tell us something, eh?

I don't think that taking religion out of schools is the reason for our school's poor grades. I think it's more a case of trying to blend social engineering into our schools than anything else. We should just go back to the basics and let the students make up their own mind.

I do think that some school districts are scared of offending people, though. Recently, in a town just west of me, a school changed the yearly Easter Egg Hunt to the "Spring Egg Hunt" because one, count 'em..1... person complained about the name.

Our schools spend too much time on making kids "happy" and "feeling good about themselves" and not enough time preparing them for their future and teaching about our country's history.

What our schools lack is discipline of study, not religion. The other country's schools do not involve religion in study, but they do involve regimented studies, longer school days, and more rigorous testing. And many American students read Marx prior to graduation too. That religious involvement is the key to fixing schools is a fallacy of epic proportion. It isn't the God in parochial schools that makes better students; it's the strict environment.

I've actually never heard the argument our schools perform worse because of the lack of bible teaching. As a Christian myself I would like to see it, but I think it plays very little on our kids performance.

look at Sweden it has one of the highest concentration of atheists in a modern country and their crime rate is almost 0 in a seance Europe has passed America from a social point of view Cristian's like to twist everything if it fits their agenda
the Cristian's would like u to believe that without them where scrued and anarchy will take over but it seams that in a modern democracy religion is a factor of downfall not of social or scientific upraise

They (the Christians) are saying it's bad - they are the only ones that are.

This world would be so much better if religion was gone from everywhere.
