I would like to go on a Royal Caribbean cruise to the Eastern Caribbean or Western Caribbean...is the weather nice in March, April, or May? Or should I wait until June or July? Also, is the water rocky during those months?

Springtime would be best. That way the sun is not scorching you in the summer months.

March, April and May are perfect times to go because 1) its not too hot but warm enough to get in the water at the beaches; 2) its well before the hurricane season. AT this point you are kinda late for booking a MArch or April cruise. You do need to book early as many cruises do sell out. If you go in June or July it will be hotter but still nice for cruising. For the most part there is no rough water in the Caribbean,, unless you run into a hurricane and that's not likely.. All of the cruise lines will steer around hurricanes and even change the order of ports to stay out of their way. In addition, ships these days have automatic stabilizer that prevent ships from rocking. Also, the ships are so large these days that the do not generally react to the motion of the ocean trhat you would feel in a smaller boat. I have been on more than a dozen cruises and have never gotten sea sick.

The cruises are crowded with tons of young kids in March and early April and then again in June and July because kids are out of school for Spring and Summer break.

We just returned from a 7-day cruise on the Carnival Conquest. There seemed to be more children than adults on the cruise. The kids were running around like wild animals.

Hurricane season starts in June. In 2005, we were on board the RC Rhaposody of the Seas and were caught between TS Cindy and Hurricane Dennis. The Captain re-routed our itinerary and we hid out in Progresso, Mexico but had to skip Grand Caymans. It was really(!) rough that night.

I would recommend April.

Deffinately choose Eastern. Its the best and you go to really really great islands. I would go in April or May as if you go in June or July the weather will be extremely hott. I would go whenever your budget could afford it and when you can get the time off and arrangements made. The water is really never rocky just durin hurricane season usually but sometimes the water can be rocky but they have stabilizers on the ship so you dont feel much of it.

The weather is wonderful in the spring and prices can be really good then. Its unusual to deal with rocky water these days. Modern ships have stabilizers that keep motion at a minimum. Feel free to contact me if I can help you in any way!! Deb

May would be a really good time to travel because the temperature in the Caribbeans is not to overbearing and the sea are calm
