No, your not 2 young. But even thought you move out someone will still try to keep you in the middle. Best thing is when you get your own place you can and should tell them that your not going to be in the middle. Be nice, but be up front about it. Don't let it get started an you won't have to listen to it anymore, at less not as much. And the further you away you can move the better. A good hour from your family at least would be far enough but close enough to visit.

No your not too young. In fact there are 16 y/o's that are making it with the help of a boyfriend. You being 20 should be able to make it right away by yourself. Just don't be a fool! Have a job lined up right away. Save up a minimum of $900 to start the ball rolling. I'm not sure where you live but a studio apartment (everything in one room) will run you around $350 first and last. Tack on $100 for turning on utilities if needed, and $50 for groceries till next payday. Yeah, go for it!

I know exactly what you mean. I'm also 20, living in a different town at school. I finally told them that I am moving out for good and in with my boyfriend (in a nice way). They weren't too happy. Just make sure you can afford to do this by yourself without relying on your parents. Make a list of all the expenses you'll need to cover for a year (rent, food, bills, transportation, insurance). You also have to be ready to be away from your parents and siblings for an extended amount of time. For myself, it was quite difficult for the first little while. Think about the full picture and if it will really be the best choice for you.

If you feel it's best for you to move out, do it! It'll be a GREAT adventure - challenging, scary and REALLY fun!
Expenses can be kept down:
Find a roommate or two to share rent and utilities.
Take the bus instead of buying a car.
Eat on the cheap - cook your own stuff.
Those are the major expenses.
Get a job doing something you love. If you need a degree, apply for scholarships and financial aid - living on your own will help you get that.
Sounds like you're getting healthy and this is a great step! You can do this!

Go for it, provided that you are ready and fully aware of all the expenses associated with living by yourself. It is hard. You have rent, electricity, gas, phone, food, cleaning, plus furniture, and all the little things like linen, plates, cups, bowls, cutlery, cooking utensils, pots & pans. It really is quite costly to start up and then you have to maintain. Are you able to support yourself?
I moved out in similar circumstances when I was 18. I worked two jobs for the first three years to make ends meet and ensure that I still had a social life.
If you have sincerely considered all these factors, then you are ready.

No.
I think moving out and becoming responsible for you self is awesome. I moved out when I was 20 also. Worked as an operator for the phone company and roller skated to work.
Worked split shifts and went to the beach during the day.
I got a studio apt about a mile from my parents so I was never far from a visit if I needed a good talk.
Some of the best days of your young life.

Why not go away to college? This is a great way to exit gracefully from a family situation, be on your own, and have a great time while learning important things for the rest of your life.
I went away to college at 18, had my own place and loved it! I graduated in 4 years, got a job, and have been self-supporting ever since.

I know what you mean I live at home and it is driving me nuts. The thing is I am being practical you are right there are a lot of living expenses when it comes to living at home. I would just wait. Get a job so that you are not home so much and tell your parents that you will only babysit so much or they have to pay you.

If you have a good job and can afford an apartment and the electric, water, phone, gas(for your car), transportation,insur-
ance(car, medical), food, recreation (anymore this is not even a luxury, but a necessity for sanity), then I say, go for it. It might mean evening taking a second part time job to make things work out at first, but soon you will learn where to cut down on some things.
Good Luck!!!
