The book of revelation is a whole lot of symbolism. And it is not for everyone to understand . Their time for understanding will come latter. God is fair in all things. There is no need for fear if you have faith in the lord. For God told satin right to his face, "touch not mine anointed". You see God takes care of his own.

The bible like all religious text are outdated by modren standards. They are based on a sociology of a culture that is long since dead! There is absolutely no way any of those writers could've written anything about our world. For one simple reason. Our world would have been beyond anything they could've ever dreamed possible and they could only write in terms and with images that they understood.
The other thing is there has never been a single event that people have said oh this or that is talking about this specific event and that it will occur at this specific time. It is only AFTER the fact that these people want to pop out of the woodwork like a bunch of roaches in a roach motel and try to say that their book or what not predicted this. Well if that is true why can't we use this prediction aspect to save lives?
Reason: IT IS B U L L S H I T!
Will those events happen? NO THEY CAN NOT!

There is no God because it was a man made construct based on human misunderstand over 6000 years ago. The book of Revelation is a prophesy of things to come. These prophecies are not etched in stone but the religious believe they are which may seal our fate.
You could never get an indoctrinated religious addict to look beyond their bible long enough to see as is truth. The bible does have a great deal of truth in it but only distorted to mislead the masses. The bible's distortions become clear when you look at it in the right light but don't expect the person that believes that bible to be a divine book to ever do the work to see the real facts. The hard fact to be seen is religions are the true evil in this world.
Prophets are not just from the religious. They come to us in many forms and they have come to us throughout all of history. We have prophets even in this modern day but religions have taught the masses to believe they are evil meant to mislead from the true word of God, which is funny seeing he never existed.
The world has been warned of its impending doom but the people are too fearful and close-minded to see the truth that is right before their eyes. Or governments are hiding the real facts from the populace because of all the religious fanaticism.
What happens in our future is totally up to us to change its course. People will have to open their minds to what the evidence is really telling us for our history to take another course.
Follow the links below where ever they take you and keep an open mind. The truth is all around us just waiting to be accepted.

I would not bet my eternal soul against it.
Robert Anderson, who was the inspector for Scotland Yard (who caught Jack the Ripper) took the book of Daniel as providing the date Messiah was to come. His incredible calculations pinpointed the DAY Jesus rode in to Jerusalem. For this, he was knighted by Queen Victoria and became Sir Robert Anderson. However, he read other prophesies regarding Israel becoming a nation again and thought that this was WAY too preposterous. No nation, after being conquered and scattered, EVER returned again to form a nation and a people. So it must have had some "allegorical" meaning to it. Well, in 1948, Sir Robert Anderson was proven wrong. Sir Robert Anderson believed the Bible, but his doubt in a wild claim such as Israel becoming a nation was too much for him. THAT is how accurate prophecy is. Before the fulfillment took place, Anderson assumed it was wrong (having lived in the Victorian era pre 1948). He twisted nothing, but assumed it was something else entirely.
Isaiah 34:16
"Search from the book of the LORD, and read: Not one of these shall fail; Not one shall lack her mate. For My mouth has commanded it, and His Spirit has gathered them."

Since the Revelation which was given to John was all given in signs and symbols, you might be interested to know that most of it has already occured. Make the right choices and God says you might not have to die at all--

No. Even according to the Bible, the revelation and the end of the world is late.
A part of the Bible most Christians like to skip over is Luke 21:25-32, where Christ tells his followers about the end of the world and his pending return from heaven and then tells them that their generation would not pass away before these things happened.
That was over 2000 years ago.

you have o realize that this was written 2000 years ago, by a man names John who received a vision of what was to come, he had no idea what an automobile was or a helicopter, or an atomic bomb, and yet he described both a helicopter and the results of an atomic bomb.
but the good news is that the true believers will be taken out before these thing happen.

The revelation thing is nothing but a hyped up fairy tale, as you say, and looks more like it comes from the twisted mind of JK Rowling than anyone else.
I sometimes wonder what mind altering drugs were available during the times the bible was written, from some of the things I have written in there...

Apparently you haven't studied the the word enough, people have many way of interpreting what they read, hear, or see. It could also be metaphors describing situations, the end is coming, but why dell on it. Live your life not in fear but by love, happiness, as well as goodwill towards others.
BE BLESSED!!
peace.
