Hi, I'm starting as a dental nurse soon and have to provide my own clogs.

I have seen many websites, but not sure which to get.

Can any current dental nurses tell me what company they got their clogs from? I'd rather buy some from someone who has used a company for clogs.

Thanks.

Half the clogs sold today don't really look like clogs. One of my staff wears them (NurseMates) about half the time and I'd never know if she didn't point it out to me. Daisy is another popular brand.

I don't go for those colorful plastic ones, especially the ones with air ventilation holes in them. They look more suitable for flower gardening than gum gardening. And Tom is right about the risks.

I'm not in your biz but I have seen a lot of medical personnel wearing Crocs. These are foam-ish garden clogs in a bunch of colors. Make sure you enjoy wearing them at all before you invest in them for work. All the discount stores and Payless are offering a version of Crocs and they aren't any different in my opinion. I didn't like any. They make my feet sweat, blister, and I just can't imagine wearing them in a medical profession, esp dentistry with so many sharp instruments and needles. Not everyone who goes to the doc gets a shot but a whole lot of people at the dentist get Novocaine. I would sure hate to think of one getting dropped on my foot while I had Crocs on.

Some have holes in the top for ventilation and design, but the ones marketed toward medical attire don't. Still that foam is so soft. When I had them they were for camping and I had a stick go THROUGH my shoe (and they are thicker on the bottom). So these are not protective wear.

Welcome to the wonderful world of dental nursing my fellow aspirating beauty!
I have got the most comfortable of white nursing clogs which my company kindly supplied!
They come from a company called Hejco who are based in Gillingham Kent, Phone number- 01634878750, they are a bit expensive they cost £60, but they are worth it, comfort and sturdiness!
They come in white and black, but as my uniform is white/navy the white ones look a lot smarter!
Hope you manage to find a pair and good luck in your new job, you'll love it!

Go to Dicks. They have those Crocs clogs. They are awesome. I am a nurse and I love them. You can check out nursing scrub websites also, they have clogs in them. Try http://www.jascouniform.com/?srccd=pt1000 or http://www.lifeuniform.com/custom_stat/index.html

I don't think clogs look very professional. But I do use running shoes with the air heels.

i don't let the girls in my office wear them because for one i don't think they look good but also i don't think that they are safe. you need to plan on a sharp bloody instrument landing on your foot. it's not likely but it's possible. and you know that's going to be on a hep c patient. also, they are prone to coming off of your feet and having a fall.

see what else is out there.
