Well lets suppose for a minute that it is the actual words of God, obviously something you have to decide for yourself.
If you read up on the history of the church, and the bible, you will see that it was edited many many times by various folks, who picked the parts they felt were the literal word of God and threw out others. Humans are fallible right? So its quite possible they erred on which parts they threw out and which they kept. So even if you assume that the bible as it existed over 2000 years ago was the literal word of God, nevertheless humans have messed with it for centuries, and thus made it less.
Whether the bible is true or not is something between you and God, something each of us must decide. Don't let anyone tell you what to believe, you must make that decision for yourself. Don't be a follower, be a leader.

Instead of leaning on the beliefs of others, one really needs to do their own research on this subject.
" The Be·roe'ans ... received the word with the greatest eagerness of mind, carefully examining the Scriptures daily as to whether these things were so." Acts 17:10,11
When a person does research the Bible, it is amazing! With guidance from its Author --requested through proper prayer-- the oft-labelled 'contradictions' are seen to actually make perfect sense. Yes, an unbiased examination of God's word is truly an eye-opener!

For those who would say the Bible is not the Word of God, or that the Bible contains numerous errors I would say this: Paul could say in 2nd Timothy 3:16, "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God." That's the Greek word, "theopneustos" meaning "God-Breathed." Every single word was given from God to 40 different men, and 2nd Peter 1:21 adds: "for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God." Now that was the Old Testament. The New Testament wasn't in existence when Paul used these verses. He was telling the churches in his letters what had happened in the past, but in John 16:12-13, Jesus talked about the coming of the New Testament. He says, "I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. But when He, the Spirit of Truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come."
That's the New Testamant. And we can say with John 17:17, "Your Word is Truth." Today, we have 66 books written by 40 different individuals on 3 continents covering a period of 1,500 years and there's not one mistake, regardless of what some of the critics say. They haven't studied God's Word enough to know the truth. Among the writers we had kings, poets, philosophers, prophets, scholars and fisherman. And I want you to know we have all of the Word of God today. Someone says, "Yes, but we don't have the original manuscripts" Who said so?
We have copies totalling 24,800. Now, how do we know that they're right? Well, if you take 20 items and you compare them and 19 state one thing and one doesn't, then the one is in error. We've got 24,800 manuscripts that exist today to compare one against another and we have another 80,000 quotations from the church fathers, enough to put the entire Bible together with the exception of 11 verses. Take the 80,000 quotations from the church fathers and the 24,800 manuscripts for a total of 104,800 and you have all of God's Word dozens and hundreds of times. This is so because God's Word is literally flawless. After computers have compared millions, or even billions, of letters in analyzing the 104,800 manuscripts the texts are basically flawless. So, don't listen to the critics. The whole Bible is God's Word!

Well I bet everybody has their own opinion on this. My opinion is I go by the bible, and believe it was all real. I dont think I'm imagining anything. A true christian/cathiloc/whatever wouldn't think they were imagining anything. They would be true to the Book. I think another reason people believe it be true is because everything is visual in Cathilocism. People see plays, movies, clips, or pictures from these events, and belive it was real and happened. For example, everyone has the picture of all the animals going onto noah's ark, so they are almost positive that it happened because they can see it.

The bible is true in the sense that it was written as a non-fiction, but is untrue in the sense that those events did not happen as written or at all.
Look at the Apocrypha, parts of the bible not traditionally included by most, but by some. It includes stories of angels coming to earth, having relationships, stuff that you would find in some Greek tragedy or greek mythology. The Council of Niceae finalized what was to be included in the bible. They decided what was the word of God, regardless of the writers. They included many books, but disregarded a great deal more. Who are they to decide? Because God told them? They put in what they thought matched their religious practices (which they also made up....eucharist, altar, hymms).
The early books are symbolic of God's creation but do not necessarily represent the actuality. They can be thought of as an allegory to God's creation. The Bible is mostly mythology. Certain figures, I'm sure, existed. Jesus, Moses, Solomon. But the religious aspects, the miracles, the word of God, is just the same as any other religious text.
Much of the New Testament, furthermore, was written a few decades years after Jesus' death. How could they know all those facts about Mary's immaculate conception or her childhood where she was allowed to enter the Temple when no woman could? Oh..because she was sinless. She had to be sinless to give birth to jesus because jesus was son of god. They made up the stories to fit their perception of the religion.
The writers and editors claim God's word or inspiration by the god's, but its just the opposite. They inspired god's word, and that consequently inspired others to do the same.
It's not garbage. It can be good for people and provide a good moral code. But its still mythologically based in the end...

I could quote scriptures all day of the validity of the Bible but will leave this answer to faith. All religions are based on faith. It is what you believe to be true that is so when it comes to a faith based religion. Personally, I DO believe that all in the Bible is true and for those you feel differently, God still believes in you whether you believe in Him or not.

In simplest terms, the bible is both 100% true and 100% wrong, it is theorised to mean whatever the individual reader wants it to say, and influence their lives how they think it will work best.
There can never be a definate 100% right or 100% wrong to answer your question about the entire world.

If you have doubts that the sun will blind you if you stare at it...then stare at it.
If you doubt that you will die if you step off a cliff...then step off a cliff.
God tells us everything we need in the bible. He talks about how we are to live our lives. ...also about the stars...the sun..the animals...it's his instruction manual for his creation.
Sometimes parables were used to explain things to help us understand...sometimes parables were used to keep the truth from the bad guys. And as in Revelation it wasn't time yet for them to make sense of it. It was written for our time.
But the whole bible is from God. He cannot lie. So the bible is all true.

The bible was written by men. It was then altered and twisted by men. None of the bible should be taken literally and all of it should be taken with common sense first.
For wwjd, I believe in and love God. He is not that monster in the bible.

It is the canonical Word of God. Immutable and true. The problem comes in taking parts out of proper context and with the issue of individual interpretations.
