You're from Minnesota. That explains everything. Everybody from Minnesota sounds like they're from Germany.

One of my friends had surgery on lips/throat in childhood. She is taken for French quite often.
Some people speak any language with accent and are accepted as foreigners in both environments.

Maybe you had a German nurse being a baby?

Ppl often tell met to have a different accent, and want to know where I'm from, though I have lived in my hometown all my life, I don't really think I have an accent at all.

That's nothing, I've been told I've a foreign accent too even though I was born and raised in the USA and my family's first language is English...go figure....

You were switched at birth?

Mabye you moved to Germany afterwards, for example, your family lived on an American military base for a while.

Mabye you have lots of german friends or relatives.

Did you have a stroke? I've heard of people having minor strokes in their sleep and then waking up speaking with an accent.
