If towels are clean before we take a bath, and we are clean when we dry off with the towels that are clean, then why do we wash them?

very good answers so far but since you guys and gals all say that its from the wetness then why cant you just throw them in the dryer??

Well, because your not entirely clean when you get out of the shower, (even though thats what showers are for)so when your wet you get that extra dirt off *with the towel* and also, from the wetness it could sour, and then when it was dry but smelled who would want to dry off there supposedly clean body with something stinky, if they just got out of the shower,....think about that!

Because human beings are never truly clean. There is no way to remove all the dirt, bacteria, and odors from the human body after even the most thorough wash. Thus the towel is dirty and must be cleaned.

After air drying a few times, they smell. If you put them in the dryer after using them, I'm sure the heat will kill the germs, but they won't have that nice clean smell.

i use my towels twice before i wash them....but then they start to smell form the dampness and i wash them

because the water that you put on them from drying of causes mold

1. because you rub them all over your body, and get little flakes of dead skin on them
2. because they are used for other things besides drying bodies

cause they go all over someone's body. even if the person before me used one, i dont think i would want to dry off with something that was rubbed all over another naked person lol
