A high pulse can be normal but if you are not physically fit sometimes that will cause it to be a little higher. If you start and cardiac exercise plan, ok with your doctor first if you have health problems, then you may be able to bring it down more. the only problem is that if you are ever predisposed to cardiac problems such as heart attack or high blood pressure then a fast heart rate could cause you to go into congestive heart failure. Do not want to worry you. You are probably fine as long as you are fit.

Hello:

I would advise you to make an appointment with your family doctor for a check-up because a fast pulse rate can indicate that you have a condition called,"Tachycardia,"which means that your pulse rate is higher than normal. A normal resting pulse should ideally be below 100 beats per minute! If your pulse is higher than this there could be several causes for a higher than normal pulse rate which could be one of the following:

1. If you are ill, your pulse rate will go up if you are sick and not feeling well.

2. You may have an underlying health condition that you are not aware of,and your doctor really needs to give you a very thorough physical exam just to make sure that everything is ok.

When you go to see your doctor,he or she may have you put on an EKG to monitor not only your pulse, but to make sure that your heart is okay, and that there isn't anything wrong with your heart which maybe causing the rapid pulse.

PLEASE GO AND SEE YOUR DOCTOR TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERYTHING IS OK!! It is better to be safe than sorry, because you may have an underlying health condition that you aren't even aware of and if you don't go and get a good physical exam by your doctor, your high pulse could lead to a heart attack or stroke! I don't mean to alarm you but if you don't get a good physical exam by your doctor, your high pulse could really damage your heart because your heart is working harder than normal to keep up with the rapid pulse and all of the extra blood flow that is going to the heart! I hope this has been helpful and good luck!! ;-)

A normal fit person has a pulse rate of 60 to 80 beats per min
You don't say your age or fitness level.
If you are reasonably fit and have a normal weight I would be concerned, If you are overweight (be honest here), you should get your blood pressure checked by a doctor. These pulse rates are for someone at rest. (means you haven't had a lot of activity before you measured it). The rate is too high not to be monitored by a doctor.

It doesn't mean you should be worried, Just have it investigated.

A high pulse rate can be completely normal. Lance Armstrong, for example, has a resting pulse rate of over 30 beats per minute higher than a normal person. 30 beats! While he's an extreme case, in active people I think you have nothing to be worried about.

My normal is anywhere from 90-158 depending. I had a hyper thyroid years ago, it went away but the tachycardia didn't as long as it does get any higher you should be fine. My highest was 230. I passed out, no good. Check for skipped beats, I think that is more important. see if the beats are reagular.
