Same as if you were potty training to outside! If you see the puppy starting to potty take it to the pad and praise it when it does its business. Every 30 - 60 mins, take it to the pad and tell it to potty. Praise it like crazy...and repeat until the dog goes on its own. Good luck!

Train your puppy from day 1. I used to take mine outside every hour even if he didn't have to wee. This way he got used to weeing on the same surface. After about 2 weeks he was fully trained - except for a few accidents. By the time he was 1, I could leave him inside for 24 hours and he still would not pee in the house. Repetition is the key.

How long the process takes depends on the method you use.

Potty training my Yorkie pup took me about a month and she still has on occasion "accidents".

Shes 3 months old now.

The method I used were "puppy sheets" they are designed to be a "place mat" for you're pup to potty on. It does take awhile for them to get the hang of it. (1-2 weeks)

Praise and reward the puppy EVERYTIME it uses the puppy "sheets." Have lots of patience and never hit or scorn the dog if you find a puddle or feces on the floor.

Unless you catch them in the middle of "going potty" anywhere off the sheets you can say a firm "no" with a lower tone of voice. Otherwise the pup might not understand.

Place these "puppy sheets" all around the house (preferably in almost every room) to prevent less accidents.

PetSmart and Wal-Mart are the only stores I know that carry this product.

Good luck! :)

When we were teaching are puppy♥ we just laid them down and, if he didnt poop or pee on them, we would show her. Also if they poop somewhere in the house other then the pads, pick it up, lay it on the pad so then they will know =)

GLAD I COULD HELP =)
