What size should the opening be in my chicken coop for my chickens? They will be large chickens, specifically a buff orpington, barred rock, and rhode island red.

mine is about 10inches x 10inches, but it doesn't really matter as long as the chicken can walk through it

high enough so the chicken don't have to duck and wide enough for they go threw easily. Be careful you want a gait to shut in the chicken to keep raccon and other animal that might get into the cage, but not in the the place the chickens are.

They probably can get by with an 8" X 8" opening.
