My ex and I were talking and he told me really randomly "im not ready to get married or have children". I told him he shouldnt be because hes young, but then he starting telling me I should move closer to him in philadelphia. Weve been broken up for almost two years, but have continued to talk. I just thought this is weird because I never brought up marriage or children with him cause im still in school and have plans to move to nyc. It just struck me weird that he brought it up. Right now marriage seems like the plague and most guys dont even say that word. When I asked him what this was about he didnt say anything. so im just wanting general opinions.

Sounds like a random statement he made about how he feels at the moment. If you've been talking for 2 years, what you want in the future (marriage, kids) sounds like a reasonable topic to bring up. Move to NYC and live your life, don't worry about what an ex tells you.

Then continue your long distance dating and dont move closer unless you want too. DOnt make the mistake of doing what he wants especiallly if he has made a clear statement that he is not ready for any kind of commitment. Then you calll your shots girl. You are an individual so make choices best for you. It doenst sound like he will make the best choice for you, maybe for himself so you do the same for yourself.

Did he tell you he didnt want to get married when you broke up 2 years ago, or did he tell you recently? If he told you 2 years ago he very well could have changed his mind.
