Why do they? Their ansesters love water like the tiger. So why do they hate water? Anybody know?

Cats can learn to tolerate a bath, if introduced when they're a kitten and handled carefully. I have a cat (Balinese) i've bathed about once a month since she was a kitten that plays in the sink when the tap is on and I also know of many cats, especially bengals who love to play in water and will even get into the shower with their owners. I think the tigers and wild cats had no choice, they went in to get fish or a buffalo taking a drink so they could eat, it was a matter of survival.
I adopted two adult cats about 9 months ago and one is fine with the bath, the other has had a bath twice as he's huge and hard to handle, but he's starting to get used to it.

Not all cats hate water. I have a friend whose cat showers with her.
I think most of them don't like water because they aren't used to it. They're so fussy about their fur it takes forever to clean it off when they get it wet.

My son handled his kitten frequently and introduced it to water early on. When it grew into a cat, it was very calm and trusting and loved taking a shower with my son.

They don't hate water,they just don't like to take a bath..
