What do you think it means? Try to think that through.
This is an old ethical debate question. People should always act as if everything they do is being watched or will become known by others. Would people masturbate or shoplift if that were the case? Would business leaders dump toxic waste into nearby streams and lakes? Would teachers have sex with students? Would people post some of the things they post if they knew they'd be read by their peers? Things that make ya say hmmm.

Oh my, this is my daughter. It is when people act according to the situation they are in, my daughter like to appear "white as snow" at all times except when she is at home. She is grown and married now, but her dad was the same. But the real info I like is "The integrity of a man is determined by what he does when no one is looking" and these people aren't doing that quite often. Sometimes it might be to save your life, but most people don't show their real selves, too vulnerable, some show more than others and some are like chameleons.

The fact that people want to be liked by others they will hide a part of their real selves. However by themselves or when the person is around good friends they are who they are....in a sense its being two faced but i know that i do it and really without even noticing.

They're asking why people act normal around people (maybe shy), but act differently (like singing in front of a mirror) when nobody is around.

They put on a mask for the outside world to make them happy or look a certain way, but then in the sinlence of the dark they choose to be something else.
It's about fear of rejection, from the perspective of someone who never wore a mask, but we all do.
We pretend to care about things we don't because we think our honesty will hurt someone, but like they say:
"It's not what you say, its how you say it."

It means that these people are insincere. They put on a front for show, but their true colors show when they think no one is around them, and this is how these people get tripped up in their deception.

It means people are two-faced and present what they THINK the world WANTS to see, and what they truly are they keep secret out of fear.

It is asking why is it that people pretend to be someone else while people are around but when people aren't (or at least don't think they are) they are themselves.... no fakes....

We sometimes hide our true self when we think a different persona might help us further our career or luck
