I'm sorry but just read it sometimes. Sure it's a very nice story, but some of the things are just ridiculous and don't make sense. Am I really supposed to believe a guy built an ark, filled it with two of every species and floated around in a flood for '40 days and 40 nights'? When did this worldwide flood happen? Not only that, but it's so obvious the book was written by people with their own agendas. The bible discriminates against women, and homosexuals, and critical thinkers... these are people God created... why would he punish them? Why do I have to believe in some book and share a faith with millions of other people, why can't I just have my own personal relationship with God and that be good enough?

I am sorry to say this to you but it seems to me you have the wrong approach to reading the Bible.

There are many things in the Bible which are not meant as teaching. The examples you gave are just a few of the many that are there for other reasons.

Biblical inerrancy, is the Bible's privilege of never teaching error. Does this mean that every statement in the Bible is divine teaching? Of course not! The Bible does not always teach. There are many statements in its various books that are there for historical, geographical, poetic or other reasons. However, whenever a biblical author intends to teach us something, the Holy Spirit intends that too. Everything the Bible teaches is without error, but everything in the Bible is not meant as teaching. Each author was left free by the Holy Spirit to express himself according to the ideas of his own day. It is the revelation in the Scriptures that is important.

May the Lord's peace be with you!

If you believe in God but think the Bible is dung, the answer to your question of going to hell is up to God. Do you do what he says? Do you believe what he says? Don't you know what he says? .......... It's in the Bible as well as many other holy books out there.

That is your source of God's teachings and words ....... unless, of course, you have the thrill of speaking with God in verbal tones as did Moses.
