All of my friends had a boyfriend in elementary school but they never went anywhere with them. How could that be? Are those real boyfriends? I didn't do that in elementary school and now I am 14 and have never had a boyfriend. Am I stupid or abnormal?

im in the exact same boat as you...don't feel bad. only i'm 15...but i think i'm getting close, just don't get too desperate, and don't freak out on yourself, trust me there's still time, what you need to do is find a group of nice guys that don't think of themselves as 'popular', and start hanging out with them. trust me, in elementary school, nothing happens-its just for popularity and saying 'look we're so cool we're going out!', its nothing special. i'm not sure, but it seems as if my current situation with this guy works out, i may get my first kiss in the most amazing place ever-haha disney world-with the most amazing, fun guy i could ever find. so don't worry-ppl like us have all the fun-b/c we saved the romance for a time when guys no what romance is.

Sweetie, having a boyfriend in elementary school simply means a girl and boy like each other. NO you are not stupid or abnormal. It's just around the bend. Don't look for him, he'll find you. Will your parents allow you to date right now? Maybe someone IS paying you attention and you haven't realized yet. Just hold on a minute.

A boyfriend in elementary school is someone you hang out with once in a while during recess. Don't be sad that you haven't had one yet at your age. When I was in High School all the girls that had a lot boyfriends were known as easy sluts. You don't want to be known as that. Every once in a while I run into one of them, and they all have at least one or more kids and look so unhappy. Don't turn out to be one of them. Take your time now and you will understand later. Hope this helps you!

They are the abnormal, you are not supose to have boyfriend at elementary school, they are supose to learn; those losers will get pregnant at 12 and HIV (AIDS) at 15. Don't let anyone put preasure on you, concentrate on leaning an doing good grades, finish high school, set goals for your future and when you feel ready to have a boyfriend you will be mature enough to deal with it. Meanwhile your loser friends will be taking care of their 5 or 7 kids, and an abusive third husband.

Boyfriends in elementary or earliar does not count as boyriends. Kids dont know what is love yet. They just claim boys who are their friends, who is a boy, a boyfriend. Dont worry you're still young and have plenty of time to get a bf. I never got into a relationship until I was 18.

HI,
Well I have a 10 year old daughter in grade school-everyday when I pick the girls(my daughter and best friend)up from school I have to laugh.I hear...' Her friend is "going out" with someone else now-and my daughter likes a kid that said he would break up with his "girlfiriend" and go out with her! I asked "what are you two talking about.? .that is silly, how do you "date"-it's not like you are borrowing money or the car and going to "dinner & a movie"..what do you mean?
Both girls start giggling and said 'we pass notes and takes turns asking the boys who they like better? They get to hang out at recess together-'
I think it's just a popularity contest..all talk-the most they ever do as boyfriend/girlfriend is maybe call each other on the phone-these "relationships" don't last longer than a week-
T

These 'relationships' in that phase of maturation are 'practice' for real relationships later on. It's called 'modeling' in which children and adolescents copy the behavior of others to attempt to learn societal norms and define their sense of 'self'. Boys playing with their cars, wearing baseball hats all the time, girls starting with make up and specific clothing, going 'out' on weekend nights, going to 'clubs' or parties, and other types of socialisation, although they seem 'right' or 'fun' are nothing more than a persons way of comparing themself to peers to more closely define how they percieve themselves and their position in society. So next time you hear about someone getting dressed up {costuming} and 'going out' {venturing} looking to meet a boyfriend or girlfriend {presenting}, remember it's all just to reduce inward anxiety through modeling; although they do it becuz it's 'fun'...

In elementary school, it is just a platonic relationship, nothing romantic. They just use the term boyfriend, or girlfriend.
