Any thoughts or comments on the differences between the Odyssey White Hot and the Odyssey White Steel putters. Does the steel insert really provide a benefit over the standard White Hot insert?

Both are great putters but the are designed for various green conditions. If you usually play on a fast green, you would benefit more from a White Hot or White Hot XG insert because it is softer. Slow greens, you would probably enjoy the White Steel. Both are great inserts and come in various head shapes and lengths. Best bet is to try them out and see what feels the best to you. After all, you are the one putting!

Feel, feel, feel, confidence. That is the key to the Odyssey putters and the different incarnations that they provide. A friend who works for Taylor Made has told me that the difference in the putters are minimal as far as performance goes, and maximum as far as style goes. Basically, the putters are all comparable and based on your stroke can maximize your effectiveness on the greens.

The difference between a two ball and three ball SRT is just visual, though there are some weighting issues involved too. Whatever your personal weaknesses are, there is a putter that compensates for it.

Consider this, the world's top players in Men's/Women's/Senior golf all putt with putters OTHER than Odyssey. I like Odyssey putters, think they are great. Used to have an original Dual Force blade, but have since graduated to a Scotty Cameron TeL3. Why? Because it has the proper loft, lie and weighting for me. Do I drop more putts because of it, maybe/maybe not, but I do give myself the best chance to do so and have the best feel for my game. That gives me confidence.

The difference between the White hot and the White steel is all in the looks and sound. Hit both, figure out which you like, then go see a real clubmaker and see if there isn't a better putter out there for you.

The main difference is feel... The White Steel will feel a lot firmer and then regular White Hot will. But as far as benefits, it's all up to the player, If you like a firm putter, go with the White Steel, if you like one that's moderately firm, yet soft, go with the White Hot, or on the other extreme, if you like a really soft feeling putter go with the White Hot XG...

I personally use a White Hot XG #1, it looks and feels good to me, and how it performs is all that matters...

Nothing really different except for the strength of the putter, so unless you plan on throwing your putter against a tree or fighting someone with a baseball bat, it only looks cooler.

They are both great putters, I really don't think that one is better than the other. Best idea is to go to Golfsmith, ***** or Golf Galaxy and try them, see which feels best to you and gives you the most confidence. Have fun testing!
