I'm sorry about your loss. Russian Blues are actually fairly common in the U.S. If you go to a pet store, they will have "Cat Fancy" magazine, and they also have an annual magazine called "Kittens." They both list tons of breeders. I'm sure there are some in the D.C. area or in Pennsylvania, or maybe even in W.V. Many breeders are willing to hand-deliver a kitty to you, but you must pay in advance. Kittens usually are $500+ but an older cat (4 years old or more) is usually cheaper, in the $200-$300 range. Cat breeders generally give you a health guarantee, and the kitty will likely come to you fully vaccinated. They will probably make you sign a contract promising to care for the cat for the rest of it's life, and will give you conditions regarding future veterinary care, what to do if you can no longer care for the cat, etc. Many catteries have these contracts available on-line, and they may also have pictures of their available kitties.
Have you considered a Korat? They are wonderful, too! They look similar to Russians, but have single coats (NO brushing except to love up your kitty!) and are smaller and more muscular. Just an idea. I have one Korat and three Tonkinese (a great breed, too, similar in size and temperament to a Blue), and they are all wonderful. I'm biased, I admit! Good luck in getting a new baby, and let us know how it goes!

Look on the animal rescue web site PET FINDERS
www.petfinders.com
There are hundreds maybe thousands of homeless Russian Blues all over the u.s.all ages, from kittens to seniors
I checked in your State of WV and there were several Russian Blues in your surrounding area, there were even a few with the name Church.
Check it out before trying to locate a Breeder, There are so many homeless pets that need homes now!
If you go to My Profile or My Page on yahoo 360 I have a photo of a beautiful Russian Blue posted
Good Luck

Yes! I got one about a week ago and--amazing but true--I got it at a humane society. They listed it as a "blue" DSH, but when I took him to a vet, they told me no. They seemed to be shocked too that I got the cat at the humane society, but they said no, this cat is a russion blue. He exhibits every single characteristic of a russian blue.....double layer fur, outer layer fur is "tipped" in silver, the smiling mouth, and foot pads that are purple in color, not slate gray. ALso he has the personality characteristics--he's a "talker", has sweet soft meows, and has already proven to be very affectionate but especially so with one person, lucky me!
This will probably never happen again in a gazillion years though. And I fell in love with him when I thought he was a run of the mill average kitty....

I've tried checking online for you, but all I find is owners, which gave me an idea - perhaps network with other Russian BLue owners to see where they got theirs, and if any of them are currently breeding or know of a breeder?

Have you tried American Feline Association yet? As strange as it may sound, have you tried typing " Russian Blue Kittens Wanted " on a search site like ask.com ?

They come up on pet adoption sites pretty regularly. If you're looking for a kitten, you may be out of luck unless you go to a breeder.
