Frank Epperson was only 11 years old when he invented the originally named Epsicle. He had left his fruit flavored soda outside on the porch with a stir stick in it. The drink froze to the stick and tasted good. It took 18 more years in 1923 for Epperson to apply for a patent for a "frozen ice on a stick" called the Epsicle ice pop, which his children re-named the Popsicle.
July 5, 2005. Snapple picked the middle of summer to try and break a Guiness World Record for the largest popsicle ever. Unfortunately, the 25-foot-tall popsicle melted before it could even be unloaded off the truck. The 25-foot-tall, 17.5-ton treat of frozen Snapple juice melted faster than expected , flooding Union Square in downtown Manhattan with kiwi-strawberry-flavored fluid that sent pedestrians scurrying for higher ground.
Good Humor now owns the rights to the Popsicle. Twin Popsicles (two popsicles together) were invented during the Great Depression. Popsicle sticks were first made from Birch wood.
Hope this amused you.
