Nazi's were pretty famous (and modern nazi's especially. this includes KKK members) for getting tattoo's of Swastikas. Gay & Lesbian people are often getting rainbows or the triangle to show support for their lifestyles, and street gangs & prisno inmates have an entire language in symbols via tattoos that can convey hundereds of diffferent messages to other gang members & rivals as well. Some Native American tribes and some african cultures use them either in identifing members or ranking amoung members. Gangs use them to identify members. And the are also forced upon by outsides to identify a group such as the tattooed numbers given to the jews during the holocast.
