Give the guy a chance...it wouldn't harm to go for a drink with him just to see how you get on.
Not easy to get over being hurt but if you let this guy pass you by without finding out if you do get on well, you will always wonder if .....

phone him back and thank him for the messages.
tell him you want to take it real slow because you are just out of a relationship and you have been hurt to easily in the past.
if he cares for you he will be happy to move the friendship and possible romance at your pace.
be honest about your feelings about him. tell him you are happy to be friends for now with a view to romance at a later date. (even if you are itching to get in to bed with him) this will be like a little test to see how well he cares about you. he should readily agree to your terms. if he attempts to pressure you in to speeding things along then all i can say is block his number at the earliest oppertunity as he is moraly challenged.

whatever you do take it slow and steady. be safe (even at 33 you should always tell a friend where you are going and who you are going with especially on the first few months of dates). I know it sounds boring, but there are those who are not what they seem to be. all nice and caring one minute and then murderously violent the next. so in the interest of your safety someone should know who you are with and when you are expected home. make sure to call your designated friend when you get back home and agree that you will calll from your home phone not your mobile/cell phone.

good luck, and happy dating.

I agree...go out and see where it goes. But, it does sound like he might have the propensity to become a little smothering. Guys that are over-complimentary too soon may want to go fast at the entire thing. Have fun, but be careful until you know how you feel about things.

Call me a cynic but that sounds a tad corny to me, although he could be completely genuine! Play it kool, with responses like that's very sweet of you etc. Why not go out with him and look at him as a friend instead of date, you might enjoy yourself :o)

Yes, but take things real slow and make sure he knows that you just came out of this past relationship. If he's worth his salt, he will be patient and wait. Don't be in any hurry.

Go for a drink and see if you like him,i`m the same with my texts and have now lost the opportunity to see a nice guy as i think he`s now lost interest as i wasn`t responding in the same way as him.

give him a chance but be upfront, if he's a decent guy he'll understand and take it very slow, and agree to your terms sch as a date but say no kissing/whatever.
if he doesn't agree, well he's probably no worth it!
good luck either way!!! x x x
