If God really brings peace & joy,
why are more religiously inclined people so depressed,
and taking their lives?

Is there really joy in this? Or are they ascribing to the belief because of fear of hell? Does this fear drive them to suicide?

Will society be better off by banning religion, a cause of terror?
Should religious terrorism be banned?

So are the people your talking about religious in the sense they say they are but don't go to a place of worship or read their religious book? Or are they people who do go to a place of worship and try to get close to God? If then former then they are religious by words only and they haven't learned how to feel peace and joy. If the latter then they need to reexamine the tenets of their religion.

1. What is the source of the above assertions?
2. Has the asker considered the possibility (here in the USA presently) that many people are 'worshipping' God on man's terms rather than worshipping God on God's terms?

where are your statistics to prove this?

This website:
http://www.cdc.gov/ncipc/factsheets/suifacts.htm
only gives this mention to anything remotely religious:
Cultural and religious beliefs—for instance, the belief that suicide is a noble resolution of a personal dilemma

In my opinion, you are treading in a very sensitive area friend. If your purpose is to bait these good people, please re-think your topics / humour.
Thank you

People who are in a 'good place' rarely need to turn to religion for comfort. It attracts the poor and disposessed, the mentally needy, for some it brings comfort, for others it incites bad deeds much like politics.

let's see some facts to back up your contention...or is this just something you made up out of thin air? once again, you're falling into the oldest logical trap there is for the feeeble-minded...when you start with a faulty premise, you inevitably come to a faulty conclusion
