Tommy D: Yes, but according to popular 'religious thought, God or rather Yahweh god, is 'all-knowing', meaning that he knows the future, and if he knows the future....the future has already happened so the tree was put there for/or by Satan to bring the light to mankind. So it was Satans plan the whole time...

Roque P …: But there's nothing wrong with pride, taking over the world? You mean trying to convert everyone to believe the same as you do by instilling in them fear of the unknown?

everything on earth and in heaven was created good, but created changeable. It could continue being good or it could choose to become corrupt

-IT DID EXIST --the choice just brought it out in the open!
--IF ONE HAS A CHOICE TO make there are at least 2 things present to choose from!
--WHEN FREE will exists one has a choice, some are good or evil; some are serious or not serious, some have a sad affect some don't!
--SOUNDS LIKE--you don't like free will?
--WOULD YOU REALLY--want someone to tell you what to do in any matter or all matters--
--WHY NOT try giving it up for just a few things you really have a strong feelings about, see how it would feel?
--Eve knew what was evil, and she made her choice to be a evil goddess completely cut off from the true God. She later connived as a Jezebel would do, and seduced her husband in --not by having sex or not,(although she could have used that as a trump card) but of partaking of the stolen goods---WHAT IS SO COMPLICATED?
ILLUSTRATION
--If there were aliens AND I MEAN IF and a married man on earth, decided to seduce this alien WHO WAS happily married with 50 children on Mars, 45 that moved to Venus, 70 that moved Jupiter.
--And his wife and he just came to earth to have a vacation!
--If this was the VERY FIRST alien encounter and sex act with any alien!
--The choice of seducing or not of the alien, was a choice of a potential evil!
AND the evil was new!
--Why would one want relations with an alien that was also odd in its appearance, had 3 heads etc.

Great Question!
Good is a relative term. Good to you may be a apple pie with two scoops of ice cream -I may despise your choice and prefer pecan pie. Everything good is not necessarily God it's just just one two many o"s. Eve in the garden saw the fruit good in her eyes an a fruit that would open up her eyes to wisdom and knowledge, however in her choosing it wasn't God's choice. Evil results when choices are made that are opposite God's choosing. God placed the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the garden not for an evil objective but for an alternative of choice. Evil again was the result of what they thought was good for them. Evil does exist today because we are aware of what it represents - we have this knowledge within us. You do not have a right to choose good for your life after you have made Jesus Christ your Lord. The soul that sins against God will surely die

I'm not a christian but here is a thought through answer. Ok lets say God is all good. he created beings that he wanted to choose to love Him. so in giving them the power to choose something other than all good He gave them the power to create and they created there own evil and thus departed themselves from God. think it through it makes sence wether or not you believe it is only up to you. I choose another path altogether

If evil never existed..hmm, like me you have a choice, to steal or not to steal, to kill or not to kill, to believe or not to believe, if you want to avoid evil and you think it doesn't exist whats the point in asking the question, have you thought that it may be evil of you not to believe that evil exists, a dangerous notion because you must then also believe that homicide bombers and American A10 pilots are above the law, or just plain stupid. Unless you want to call them good..I know what I prefer to believe the Truth and not a lie.

A riddle inside an enigma. I can give birth to a good child who grows up to be evil-I'm not sure choice was part of the equation. None of the serial killers interviewed said they set out to do evil upon the earth. We call murder evil and I suppose it is.

That was God's plan in the beginning, evil never existed until the fall of Adam and Eve.
Adam was to be the ruler of the world, but when he disobeyed God, satan was giving control of the world.
God's plan was that man lived forever, but Adam brought death to the world. God told Adam if he ate of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, he would surely die. (Gen 2:17)
God did not mean he would die right then and there, God meant he would bring death to mankind. That's where choice comes in of doing good and evil.
But thanks be to Jesus, through Jesus Christ we have eternal life.

The fall of Adam, meant that man has his free agency and that for everything good, they could now experience evil/bad. Not much choice if you can experience both.
So everything was created good.

The free will to choose allows us to choose to fulfill an evil desire, which then becomes a sin.

Easy, just stop appreciating what does and fantasize on taking over the world with pride. It has to do with going against life itself.
