I never seem to but I do better than if I play the lottery. I seem to win more on the scratch off but the most I ever win is about 20 dollars. Then I put it right back into to it. I was wondering if it was worth it or not. And I was wondering if you have been winning what is your secret. Is it better to buy 10 at a time like I do or do you need to pick more.

I worked at a family owned gas station for a year and a half and I picked up on a couple things with scratch off tickets. I have had one thousand dollar ticket that I bought the computer I am currently typing on with. This is for Pennsylvania scratch off tickets, whether it is the same for other states I do not know. You have the initial ticket i.d. number thats on all tickets plus the ticket number. There is the extra identification number that is three digits you type in when you are a winner and on the other side of the ticket a bunch of seemingly random numbers that are like

0234 23 234
or if you win say 18 dollar it will say

023(1) 43 (8) 9283
and for anything over 500 it says

9823(C) 09384(L) 4(M)
for claim which means you have to claim the money because it is taxable by Pennsylvania law.

In each group of tickets is a somewhat "big" winner. Which is usually 10 times the price of the ticket. There are 2 or 3 that are about 5 times the price of the ticket and about 40% of the remainder are somewhat small winners. The actual big winners (over 500) are usually found, in what I have noticed, about one in roughly 25 packs of tickets. I have noticed a small pattern in the numbers as well. Such as the fact that when the numbers are more spread apart such as

23 45 567 56

The next ticket is usually more likely to win, and in about 75% of the cases when the three digit number typed into the system is, say 807, and the other number is like:

23 45 567 08 (notice the last three digits are the pin number backwards)
The next ticket is usually the 10 times the price winner.

However, this system did not always work which is why I said about 75% of the time. In a few packs I have noticed that when the numbers are bunched up the next ticket will either:

a) have the numbers further spread apart and then the next further and so on and eventually can just bunch them up again

or

b) have a winner next ticket

So as always lottery is a lottery, and it is a gamble, but these are just the things I picked up on in the gas station. When I won the thousand I pretty much blindly bought a 20 dollar ticket and won, but I have frequently hit 100 dollar winners. The real reason I even bought that ticket that won was because a guy that usually went to that gas station won a lot of money and loved buying the 13th ticket in the roll and I knew he was going to buy it if I did not. 5 minutes later I was jumping up and down. It was a good time, but do not get obsessive or you can lose a lot of money like my friend did.

Also, buying multiples at a time is only good if you are at a busy place and you know as soon as you buy one ticket someone will buy the next. Otherwise, just stick to one at a time. Usually when I gamble say 5 bucks on a ticket and win 10, I will either up the ante to a 10 dollar ticket or buy one more of that 5 dollar ticket and another 5 dollar ticket. Its all about gambling and you got to gamble to really win.

Hope this helped.
