I say uuUU-RAH!! Good for you! Read the book, "We Were One" by Patrick O'Donnell, who embedded with the 3/1 during the fight for Fallujah. It's really great reading on what being Marine Corps infantry is all about. there's also an older book by Frank Schaeffer about his son's experience in Marine Corps Boot Camp. Also... check out http://www.marineparents.com It's the best online resource for USMC information... and a great site for your parents while you're in boot and beyond.
Besides that.... you're going to be one of the few, the proud... Why do you give a rat's butt what anybody else thinks??

The Marines are alright. Except too many of them seem to be digging for praise and reassurance. Sometimes I think, Marines aren't trained, they're born. If you are born crazy enough to be a Marine, thats all you can ever do with your life. Other times I think Marines are just Soldiers who need more attention.
Aww, that was all in good fun. The best Marines have good senses of humor.
Good luck! Use your college benefits!

Congratulations on your decision. It's wonderful citizens like you that give this country security. Thank you. Always remember during boot camp that it will be over.... it's tough but well worth the experience.

You have made a fine choice-----I support you and thank for for becoming a hero----------you will find the media has distorted the truth as usual------I have a cousin who is back over there again for a second tour of duty and he says morale is high and our guys want to keep us safe and are willing to go wherever they may be needed----------my grandfather was a well decorated veteran of WWII----and he would shake your hand!---------and so would our family---------Good Luck-----we love you
