A half a bowl of white rice isn't a meal. If you're referring to white rice, it's a carbohydrate that will make your blood sugar spike. To respond, your insulin level will spike. Then in response to the insulin, your blood glucose will fall. That will make you hungry.

A meal should consist of protein and a small amount of healthy fat, along with complex carbohydrates like whole grains, veggies, fruit. That way the food will be broken down more slowly, your blood glucose levels will remain somewhat level and you won't have that hunger pang so soon.

If you are going to eat a small meal make sure it has protien in it. Protien keeps you satisfied longer. If you have a small bowl of rice also have some nuts or chicken with it. An apple with peanut butter works wonders!!! It makes for a great breakfast which keeps me full for a least two to three hours.

If all you eat is half a bowl of rice and nothing else, I'am sure
your body wants more. Your salivary glands have gotten all worked up, and your nasal passeges are twitching, your stomach may start bellowing cause it thinks it's been short
changed, and your brain is crying for more.

Cutting down on meal portions is really tough, because a small meal usually WHETS your appetite instead of satisfying it. Like an appetizer, basically.
