What are skin tags? And what can i do about them?

I went to the dermatologist and i thought I had warts but they were just skin tags. He said that removing costs $250 because they are harmless and there really is no reason to remove them. I have quite a few and i don't know why. What causes them? Is there anything I can do to remove them without going to a doctor?

Some people just develop them. There are a couple of options:
1) Liquid wart remover
2) Wart "freeze" treatments

You can also try the old solution of tying a thread tightly around the tag. Eventually, it will die and fall off.

Unfortunately, they tend to come back over time.
