Cats lick as a means of showing affection, and the hair biting is probably a similar gesture. Cats show affection and love in many ways - I've had head butters, biters, lickers, kneaders, eye blinkers, purrers, meowers, lap curlers, or any number of combinations of the above. I've had kitties who have flopped at my feet and exposed their throats and bellies as a sign of trust and submission.
Cats are wonderful, and I'm sure there are many sites that would give you information. You might try googling in: Cats + Affection + Behavior or something similar.

They lick your hand to get the salt from it as well as reaffirm the scent. The hair biting is to clean some of the skin mites out. If your cat bites your hair a lot then you may want to consider shampooing more often. Don't worry about best shampoo. Start with Johnson's Baby Shampoo until the hair biting subsides.

I have a 11 year old ex-feral whose name is Granny Empsey. She sleeps on my pillow above my head and licks and grooms my hair for half the night. I believe that she thinks I am her kitten.

biting and licking your hair is probably because of the products that you are using. licking your hand is a comfort or bonding thing.

my old cat use to lick my hand to wash his face for him... lol his mother never taught him how, so he always wanted to do it for him.
